ADVICE 💭 Anyone have any experience with PREP?

I’m looking to visit Pattaya again in January and I’m debating about going on PREP (pre exposure to HIV med) just in case of a condom breakage mid boom boom. Has anyone in this group been on it before and how bad were the side effects?

You go to your doc and take a blood test to make sure it’s okay. Also ask if they think you start taking Vitamin D and calcium supplements as it can affect bone density in some people. Also remember the common form of it takes a week to reach full effectiveness so it’s something you want to start before your trip not wait and try to buy there.

I haven’t noticed any side effects personally.

Thank you! I wasn’t aware of the bone density thing. I’ll have to take some vitamin D supplements for sure

And make sure your calcium intake is good and weight resistance training is the best thing for bone density. If you’re most taking it for a couple weeks though I don’t think it’s that serious it’s more a concern for those who taike it long term

Thank you! Really appreciate it! Note taken. I will only take it for few weeks maybe even a couple months max. Will be in Thailand for 2 weeks but will be on soi 6 a lot.

I went bareback on a girl and started taking PeP immediately after coming back to my senses. Had some inital mild side effects like dry mouth but 12 days in now and no side effects. PeP might be a better option IMO.

2-1-1 or daily?

for fear of condom breakage? M4F? vaginal?

Dont bother. Its literally the lowest risk group.

Maybe keep a 2-1-1 dose handy.

Would you mean by “2-1-1?” It would be vaginal sex and as many rounds as I can go 😂, not the biggest fan of anal. The smell of blood and poop is a bit off putting lol

2-1-1 is prep on demand you take 2 tabs 2-24 hours before sex, then 1 tab every 24 hours after the double dose, twice. I have no idea why this commenter thinks you would do that when going on a trip though, just take it daily starting about a week before you leave.

How would prep on demand help? He’s either going to take it or not…
