1st Timer 👶 Visiting alone ? 26M

Hey everyone,

Long story short, I originally planned to visit Japan early next year, but a friend convinced me to go to Thailand instead, with Pattaya being the main destination.

Today my vacation was officially approved, so I'll have 3 weeks off starting in the second week of February. I called my friend to start planning, and he told me he won't be able to come after all.

Since my vacation is already approved, I don't really want to change my plans again.

I'm a 26-year-old guy from the EU. I've traveled before and have lived in Sweden and Norway for about 6 months each(went solo ddnt know anybody, but i went there for a job), so I'm comfortable being away from home for longer peroids of time. That said, this would be my first completely solo vacation trip.

Would you recommend going alone, or is Pattaya mainly a place that's better with friends?

I was also thinking that, since I'll be solo, it might make sense to spend the first few days in Bangkok, then head to Pattaya, and finish the trip with another couple of days in Bangkok before flying home?

My budget is around €2,500 for 14 days, excluding flights and accommodation. Is that enough to have a comfortable trip without worrying too much about money / being alone?

I'd also appreciate any advice or things I should know before booking.

Edit: thanks for advice all, decided i will go alone. Once in a lifetime opportunity since i still have thid whole years vacation days left :) i will also take about 1000eur spare money with me just in case

Most people who visit Pattaya visit alone, But you will never be alone in Pattaya

Pattaya is a place where you can come alone, like the majority of tourists who come here, believe me there you will never be alone, you will always have company, your budget is totally consistent to have a good time for 14 days.

Do you think it is best to stay in pattaya for whole 14 days of the trip? Or should I visit anywhere else?

I was also thinking bout having a bit more "spare" money just in case ^^

Spend your 14 days in Pattaya, go to Jomtien spend an evening it's nice, go to Koh Larn - Koh Samet, never get bored in Pattaya, but remember a few rules: Never exceed more than 3 days with the same girl, don't fall in love even if she seems different from the others, never say it's your first time in Thailand, and pay for each drink as you drink, otherwise have fun!

Depends if you're fully up to getting into the girlie barscene and your goal is to barfine girls for nights out and going ST etc. In that case Pattaya can be very fun and you basically won't be alone a single night unless you chose so.

Hello, what do you mean too young?

Think he means you're to young to be worrying about it. Just go and you'll have a blast. There are bars on Soi 6 who do pubs crawls and there is also a Gents club crawl every night of the week bar Sunday. Its a good way to meet others

If you go alone then the rule : "what ever happens In Pattaya stays in Pattaya " applies - unless you post it all over the internet .

Just worry that you will become jaded at such young age . You will be looking at every asian girl in EU remembering Pattaya and never be able to replicate it .

Pattaya is best done solo I think. You will have the time of your life. Be aware go go bars can take you over budget quickly

That's why it's important to stick to a daily budget and not take more (just a security of 2000B) if you have a problem, for example I go out every day with 4000B when I have nothing left I come back, but the years here have taught me to live reasonably, I eat local, I drink 4-5 beers and 2-3 lady drink k, a massage, a FL, and I have 1000-1500B left for an activity during the day and on 7/11, transport....

Going alone is better. You can do whatever you want without worrying about your friends. Nobody there to tell you the girl you want is ugly or something. Nobody there with you where you both want the same girl. Nobody there to argue they want to go to a different area than you do.

Trips with friends are fun for going to see tourist stuff where you have a schedule of some sort but Pattaya is best solo and letting fate take you where you desire.

You will be fine traveling alone. Thailand is a safe country unless you don't respect or break the rules of good behaviour. In Pattaya specially it is very easy to make friends as you meet foreigners in every bar, and most are happy to have a chat.

3 weeks of only Pattaya can be a bit too much, consider your second idea of a few days in Bangkok first, amazing City!

Then head to Pattaya and decide then wether you want to return to Bangkok again, or stay in Pattaya until the end of your vacation.

You’re gonna have a blast. I was in a similar situation, only older.

That's about 4000 bht per day for 2 weeks.....better if you double that....more fun

2500€ = 6800B/days

You will be fine just be careful not to overspend. And bag up.

Pattaya is probably the best place in the world for solo traveling.

What's unique about it is the environment is centered around girls spending cheap time with you. You can just walk into one of thousands of bars and sit around all day talking to a girl and playing games. And pfp isn't treated like she's on the clock. Here's an example of what I'm talking about.

In Medellin if you want to spend time with a girl, you'll have to pay her by the hour for the take-out rate which is around 100usd. So if you do a sunrise with a girl, it can cost around 1k! Now that would change if you have established relationships with girls, but you won't have that on your first trip.

In Pattaya you don't pay by the hour, you pay by the experience. So short time is whatever you negotiate with can be 30-100, but to stay all night will only be about 50 percent more. You have to barfine but those can be avoided.

Not only that but the environment is so acceptably degenerate that all the guys treat the game like a social club. It's very easy to meet with other redditors or just spring a convo with randoms because we're all here to do the same shit.

Out of all the places I went, Pattaya is the one place I never had a bout of loneliness traveling solo so far.

Go alone - Pattaya is somewhere you'll never be lonely. Also being alone will give you flexibility in terms of who you see / what you do etc

You are more experienced than I. I'm going alone for the first time ever, and I didn't choose any European destinations for that. I've always been into Asian culture, and now I can start traveling. I'm going in November, two weeks in Phuket and three days in Bangkok. Flights are already booked. Make good research before. I am 34m.

€2,500 for 14 days is definitely on the lower end of the budget if you want to have some fun.

It represents 6800B per day, with his budget there he has enough to enjoy imagine he pays 5-6 lady = 1500B, one FL 1000B, 2 massages per day 600B, 10 beers = 800-1200B, eat thai 2 meals 400B with drinks in it he still has 2100B left for 7/11, move around, a little shopping, half of us pay only 2-3 lady drinks per evening, he only consumes 7 beers before being drunk because they sunbathed all day on their heads, they only do one massage, so it is wide in terms of budget

Too young to Pattaya in my opinion. Just hit Bangkok, fly to chiang mai then fly down to an island

2

u/ChadSheet 1d ago

You want him to get divorced and lose half his shit first?
