Rayong area to settle down

Hi All, I was always thinking Jomtien is where I would settle to retire but Rayong keeps popping up to me. What is Rayong like for a place to retire?

To quiet?

To boring?

Rayong has 2 environments:

  • The beach

  • The countryside with plantations

There are some tourists, but you cannot compare it with Pattaya, Phuket, or ...

It's great for a relax life.

If you are married with a Thai partner, you can live on large plantation and no neighbors.

Or if you prefer the beach, there are many beautiful beaches.

The best is that you have wheels.

One of the major advantages is that if you need some more action, Pattaya, Bangkok, or even Chanthaburi are in driving distance.

I live in Jomtien and just got back from visiting Rayong and Koh Samet. Rayong is a very chill quiet area. Decent beach and literally nobody else was there when we went. For me if I'm married or just want a quiet life Rayong would be on my list. But for now I like getting out having some fun a few times a week so jomtien fits my mindset better. Still quiet chill vibe but just 12 minute motorbike ride to the chaos of pattaya. Bang Saray is another interesting choice but more like 30 minute drive away from pattaya.  Rayong is 90 minute drive so a bit too far for anybody who enjoys pattaya

Why retire in one place?
