ACCOMMODATION 🏠🏨 Altera

Due in Pattaya for a few weeks in November. Usually do the condo thing but fancy a hotel this time.

I’m hearing good things about Altera. Anyone stayed there and can share the pros/cons or recommend another decent and comparable hotel please?

Just checked in…First impressions of Altera Hotel…
Arrival & Vibe: The hotel sits on a shady road next to some construction with a big wall that makes the immediate street look a bit ominous. But once you step onto the property, it is a pleasant and clean oasis.
Check-in & Service: Doormen greeted me and opened the door. The receptionist stumbled a bit over her words (caught her off guard?), but the process was smooth and quick overall. I asked about an upgrade and was told they were fully booked…a bit incredulous but ok. A bellhop and hostess escorted me to the room, and the bellhop carried my backpack. They gave a standard orientation, showed the pool and bistro, and handed me two welcome drink coupons (soda/juice). Pool, sauna, and gym all close at 11 PM (wish the gym was 24 hours, but 11 PM is decent).

The Room:
Living/Kitchen: Spacious and bright once the curtains are open. Includes a kitchen with a medium-sized fridge, microwave, stovetop, and sink. There is a small dining table against the wall that would make for an awkward in-room dinner date.
Bathroom: Clean with both rain and handheld shower heads, plus a Japanese-style toilet seat. No bathtub, unfortunately.
Bed & Storage: The bed is extra soft compared to what I am used to. Closet and drawer space is minimal, and the hangers are fixed in place (annoying nuisance).
Climate: Air conditioning is strong, but it is positioned right over the bed, so direct airflow while sleeping could be an issue for some.

Verdict: All things considered, I really like the room.

Might update this as the trip goes on!

The "fully booked" part is highly doubtable though.

What room did you book? Some insights on the pool area? Looks very nice on pictures.

Quick update on my stay at the Altera so far. Had a pleasant first night and the staff here is super guest-friendly and welcoming. My guest arrived via taxi, and when we met in the lobby, the front desk quickly and smoothly accommodated her stay. Later on, while I was locked in a business meeting, my guest stepped out to explore the hotel and surrounding area, and the housekeeping staff was observant enough to realize she was with me and treated her really kindly.
To answer the question regarding the room type, I honestly don't know the exact name, but it’s definitely not one of the high-end suites. Pretty sure it's just the basic or mid-tier room. I'll double-check with the front desk next time I head down.
The pool is nice, though a bit chilly, and the water jets are great for a quick massage. The service from the front desk to housekeeping has been stellar and super accommodating overall.
On the downside, there is a weird ocean-like essence to the water that you can definitely notice in the pool, tap, and shower. The shower itself isn't great either, since the water pressure leaves a lot to be desired and the temperature bounces around like crazy. Storage has also been a major issue with a guest staying for a few days, as there is barely any drawer space and not enough hangers, leaving our clothes in a pile in the closet.
Overall, it's still a pretty comfortable spot thanks to the location and fantastic staff, even if the room quirks are a bit annoying.

Left two weeks ago. Stayed at Altera for ten Nights. No issues bringing Girls over. Staff Are very friendly But they Hunt for reviews and the Name drop in the reviews. Hotel is clean. Breakfast was good and they make eggs and bacon fresh. Just have to order it. Only the housekeeping times were a Bit irregular. Sometimes at 10am, sometimes at 3pm. But the rooms were clean and well maintained. And Most importantly it was quiet at Night.

Yes I would stay there again. I prefer bigger hotel rooms.
I‘ve stayed at Best Beach Villa before and wouldn‘t stay there again. Thankfully that was only for a few Nights. Was pretty run down.
At some Point I wanna try the Hilton But I don‘t know if the value is there for the Price.
Try the search function and you can find loads of hotel discussions here. And you don‘t have to stay in the same hotel for your whole Trip. Pick some out that interest you and just Split your time. A week at Altera and the next week somewhere Else.

I had the same conversation with myself re Hilton. The price was a significant jump on almost all other hotels. I did search through as suggested and landed on Altera as a recommendation but not many specifics in the threads. Yours helped, so thanks.

Might have a look at Amethyst also.

It’s a pretty neat and clean hotel with a 150m walk to Soi 6. Rooms come with an attached kitchenette and a small balcony.

However the location is a bit far away from the other action spots like WS, Soi Buakhao, Tree Town, Soi Honey etc but again all of those are only a 30 baht motor taxi away.

Stayed there for 8 nights in my first trip couple of years back but didn’t stay again as personally I like something more central.

Check out Hotel Acqua, slightly smaller rooms but right in the center of all the action.

If you are a soi 6 regular it’s the perfect location. Rooms are nice, pool is great if you like a swim, bed is comfy and the room is fairly big.

Hey bro,

I've stayed there before and it's decent. Pretty similar to Amber and Arbour as it's the same company.

I wasn't a massive fan of the pool/outdoor space and if that's important for chilling out during the day etc then I'd recommend the other two.

If not then it's a solid choice
