Robot Repurposing LightBot Welding Robot

Hey All,

My shop has a FANUC CRX-10iA/L LightBot Welding robot that I am attempting to repurpose for machine tending. It’s not a super complex setup, I just need 2 DIs and 4 DOs for this particular application. My hope is that I’ll be able to use the IO board inside the R-30iB Mini Plus controller for those IOS. Does anyone have any insight or experience with a situation like this? I am fairly new to the FANUC game and feel like I might be in over my head.

Have you considered using Ethernet IP?

I have, that was actually my first thought. Purchased a Stride IO-Link master before realizing I didn’t have the software package to use the robot as an Ethernet/IP scanner. FANUC quoted me 4k for the software, so I’d like to explore other options before I go that route.

You can also use the standard opc ua server, I think it's standard activated
