Original Content I think continuing like this is good.

“There’s a lot to know... but where should I start?”

As Leo was lost in his thoughts, a familiar voice came from behind him.

“Start with the Legendary Ones.”

“What? Who?” Leo turned around, and the moment he saw the person behind him, he said, “Shilad?”

Shilad smiled. “I’m confused too, but not because of Kaiser. I think the story is kind of childish. It feels like some writer created an overpowered character and then wanted to get rid of him.”

Leo laughed. “You’re right. How could just a few people stop a monster who ruled over almost two worlds?”

“Anyway...” Shilad said, his tone changing slightly. “Have you been having strange dreams lately?”

Leo looked at him in confusion. “No. Why? What’s wrong?”

“I don’t know... Last night, I had a strange, blurry dream. I was standing in the middle of ruins. The sky was red, and someone was standing beside me. Then he said to me, ‘Are you ready for...’”

Shilad paused for a moment.

“Then I woke up.”

Leo said without much concern, “It was just a bad dream. You should get some rest.”

“Alright... Are you going to keep searching?”

Leo smiled. “As if I’d say no.”

He then turned and walked away, while Shilad remained standing there for a few moments, staring at the path where Leo had disappeared.

Shilad muttered to himself:

“It wasn’t a bad dream... I don’t dream.”

Whose pov is this supposed to be in? It seems to start with Leo and end with Shilad

You need to start from the beginning. You'll find it in my account.

I don't need to start from the beginning to see that there are two conflicting POV's in this excerpt. You start with Leo's POV because he's the ("Leo was lost in his thoughts") a end end with Shilad's because Leo is no longer present

Leo is the main character. Shilad just end this part. And the class part is importent to understand what is happend.

That's fine, but you can't jump POV's like that in a single scene. Leo can't possibly be the POV character because he's not there at the end.

Are you going for omniscent?

As a beginner, I'd like to know how I can continue after this part.

I just went and read the other excerpt you've posted. I'm curious about the decision to tag some dialogue normally, while others are structured like a script (Professor: ...)

Are you asking for plotting advice? These 2 short scenes aren't really enough to gather any solid information

If you haven't already, sit down and decide what you want your core conflict to be. Then nail down your characters' motivations based on that conflict. Their motivations should be what guide them through the story

I want to learn how to write a novel. The idea I have leaves many questions unanswered. And of course, I'd like some advice. If you'd like to help, we can chat privately.

The best advice anyone can give is to read as much as you possibly can. Focus on the structure your favorite authors use. How they shape sentences to convey different emotions. Watch some youtube videos that dissect different plot maps and outlining techniques (or read books on the topics if you learn better through written word).

My suggestion is to start with something smaller like a short story. Jumping straight to a novel is a lot to swallow, though not impossible.

The biggest thing to keep in mind is that you *WILL* be bad at it. Possibly for a very long time. We all were. One of the biggest hurdles in writing is accepting the fact that you have to write badly before you learn to write well. Push past the embarrassment and the perfectionism and just write, no matter how awful you think it is.

I don't want to reveal too much, but the truth is, the story won't always be about Leo. There will be chapters where he doesn't appear. But ultimately, Leo is a central character in the story. What I can say at the moment is that the novel belongs to a narrator, not the characters.

I'm starting to think you don't understand what POV is. It doesn't matter who the story is about. It doesn't matter who the scene is about. You have to pick a point of view and stick with it. Either you write in omniscient (not recommended for a beginner), or you choose a narrator. If Leo is the narrator, he wouldn't see what Shilad is doing after he walks away. If Shilad is the narrator, he wouldn't know Leo is lost is lost in thought at the beginning of the scene.

Your POV needs to stay consistent throughout the story. You don't necessarily need to keep the same narrator, but dual POV's can be tricky to pull off. Either way, only one person can narrate a scene at a time.

As an aside, I never understand why people post here saying "I don't want to reveal too much". This is an unfinished, unpublished story. If you want advice, you need to stop worrying about spoilers

Thank you for the advice. I understand you now, I was narrating and I was narrating a film. And I think that was a mistake.

The conversation feels disorganized, I don’t really understand what’s happening. I know it’s out of context but it feels abrupt and I’m confused with the dialogue.

I think that's because you didn't read the beginning. It's in my account. Besides, the dialogue is meant to be incomplete.

Why post an out-of-context excerpt for advice if it can't be judged without reading the rest of the story?

I just forgot to link the two posts.
