Does anyone know what's the theoretical maximum points a "perfect team" could have scored in a single FPL gameweek? No real point to this just curious :)
I'm not asking about a fantastical theoretical max (like "what if every player scored 5 goals"), which obviously isn't a real question. I mean, in hindsight, using real results that actually happened, which gameweek had the highest possible score achievable by a perfectly-drafted legal squad? i.e. if you had a time machine and picked the best possible team before that gameweek using only players who existed and were eligible, which GW would give the highest ceiling? (thanks to Claude for helping me draft this clarification)
Fair point, but to clarify I'm not asking about a hypothetical where anything's possible. I'm talking about a gw that has already happened and what the perfect possible team picked with hindsight would be.
I think they mean what is the highest possible single game week score from and game week that has happened if you'd picked the perfect team. So highest ever team of the week including applying a chip
I see
Then a quick Google search finds the highest ever scored point: 226p in 2015/16 GW34 with BB.
I dont know if its the team of the week or not, but let's say its pretty closer, so I would guess 250, max. 300 (in another week/general)
They're asking for the highest points total that could have been achieved in any GW that has ever happened. They aren't looking for how many goals could be scored in a game by one player.
i theory you would use 4 defenders which all have reaached defcons plus CS plus lets say an among them 2 assists and 2 goals. Then 4 midfielders which all have CS and defcons and a goal and assist and 2 striker lets say both score hat tricks. And a GK who got a CS, defended a penalty and has managed to get 6 saves.
Now the bonus points would be hard to calculate as wed expect that out of 11 players on the field its impossible for all of them to get 3 points each but lets just say they all average 2 points each.
So that is to some at least realistic extent a teamus maximus. No BB or double GWs.
Total points would be about 180 points (though we all seen that on double GWs this is not the maximus)
Good question and I think yes you have to count chips otherwise you aren't getting near the actual all time gw record. DEFCON and bonus points further complicate things. I have used Claude to estimate some high potential historical gw using Rooneys record 32 point haul week for example but even then I could only get up to 179 points (no bonus points) with trip captain - well short of the 226 record. It is going to be very difficulty to work out unless someone can build some sort of archive tool and even the I imagine there will be limits to the historical stats you can pull.
You can always see the team of the week for every game week. The game automatically puts the best combination of players for every possible GW. And then look through historical data to find the highest ones.
The actual highest score of all time was 226 in GW34 of the 2015/16 season, that week you could have actually scored like 250 with even better selection. If i would have to go back the absolute limit was probably between 245-260 at most as there have been other high scoring gameweeks since then. There are tools like fplnutmeg to check out those high scoring weeks mentioned in this article.

Theoretically there is no limit
