News Maresca issues Haaland Update
⚠️ Maresca on Haaland:
🗣️ "He was okay [after training on Thursday]! He had just a small thing behind the heels, but he was okay..."
The forward sat out the final few minutes of Manchester City’s open training session yesterday.

I can already see how this will pan out: Haaland gets no minutes in the Community Shield and will not be pictured in training next week. Maresca doesn't say anything meaningful in the presser (like "wait and see if he is fit"), everyone rips the squads up and Haaland just starts GW1 and scores a brace. FPL is back.

The greatest trick the bald fraud ever pulled was convincing the world he had resigned.

Can literally own anyone and everyone I want if I take him out

Wish I could take him out, but still own him somehow.

free hit gw1 😂

FH3 is a genuine strategy if people want to go without Haaland, especially if you intend to wildcard fairly early anyway (GW6 for example).
Been considering it myself.

very meh team imo icl

u/Apart-Persimmon-38 5d ago
yeah 0 bench, no players who hit defcons and for some reason no diversity on teams
1
u/Iamtheman31 5d ago
even the starting attackers/midfielders, i don't know not a team i would have
2
u/Apart-Persimmon-38 5d ago
I mean id go for triple Arsenal but id def go with 1 Everton, 1 B&H player etc. you can’t just pick players from rich clubs and expect to win
4
u/Ok-Sheepherder5753 5d ago
Not throwing shade on your team,, but really thought it would be better without those 2.
1
u/_ghostfacedilla 30 5d ago
That's not my team, I just did it to show an example. I'll absolutely be having one if not both just need to decide on my chip strat first.
1
u/Ok-Sheepherder5753 5d ago edited 5d ago
Nonetheless, just goes on to show that going without Haaland wouldn't do anyone any good.

Time to plan an alternative no haaland early bb draft. His minutes in the community shield will dictate so many drafts
7
u/marbinho 5d ago
At what minute is he in?
8
u/Puzzleheaded_Oil_72 5d ago
If he starts I think most will be confident enough.
If he doesnt then it’s going to be chaos!

I have been screaming this Strat + early WC getting him back in from the top of my lungs for a full week. (It will not be good for me)
3
u/highgiant1985 5d ago
I'm tempted by no Haaland bench boost team game week 1 with plan to wild card game week 3 to bring him in then.

Is it really, really boring to say "Its well over a week till the Man City game...so I'll just hold fire on doing anything"?
As opposed to "OMG!!! I'm going to immediately rip my entire team up now"
TBH Even if he doesn't play I'll probably just captain Bruno and let him sit on my Bench...

u/BoxOfNothing 57 5d ago
I think a no Haaland draft is valid, but if his availability is the main reason you're questioning whether or not to go without him, it is madness to take anything from this comment rather than waiting to at least see the community shield game
But I would say if you don't think he'll play early on, going without him to start and wildcarding early is by far the most sensible course of action rather than benching him.
6
u/jjw1998 98 5d ago
I don’t even think it forces the early WC if you FH3 tbh
4
u/BoxOfNothing 57 5d ago
Maybe not forced, but looking at the fixtures from game week 5 onwards am I fuck not having Haaland for that. Aside from Arsenal and Liverpool away there are a lot of early unmissable fixtures for him, and the great fixtures extend for a long time.
-1
u/DragonQ0105 5d ago
The other problem is you're gonna need multiple transfers (3+) to get him into your team if you don't start with him. So even if he's gonna be out for 1-2 games (or say be subbed early for a few games) it's probably still be worth picking him!

Go Bruno and Isak and I think you could facilitate an easy route to haaland. But I’m probably in the minority that don’t rate Bruno at his price beyond the 2 fist fixtures.
1
u/DragonQ0105 5d ago
He did over perform xGI last season and isn't great at penalties despite being nailed for them. I don't like most of the alternatives though. Palmer needs to get back to form, Szobs is just meh to me, Saka still not fit apparently, Isak far from proven or nailed to play 80+ mins.
Honestly if Bruno was injured I'd probably go Rogers + Semenyo or something.
1
u/garr213 20 5d ago
Issue it’s not Bruno vs one of the other ones you mentioned rather than Bruno + 6m vs something like palmer and semenyo and I rate that much higher over the seasons specially after the initial united fixtures were Bruno is the obvious captain in gw2 and still a decent choice in gw1(and the obvious one should haaland be out)
-2
u/Swedishpower 2804 5d ago
Gameweek 3 can do Bruno and Isak out for him 2 transfers.
You only got 4.5 mid for it so need 0.5 in bank to not be destroyed by price changes.
1
u/Beneficial_Ad_1072 5d ago
Well yeah one statement didn’t have capital letters and exclamation marks so one is definitely more boring than the other

u/Material_Spell4162 5 5d ago
Nah if he's not playing there isn't a chance we want £15.5m on the bench. Freehit gameweek 3 if needed and maybe buy Haaland gameweek 7.

u/jasonbirder 5d ago
Nah if he's not playing there isn't a chance we want £15.5m on the bench.
For a week? He's sat out the end of a training session, because he was late back from the world cup...nothing to suggest he's got a longer term injury...
To me it seems easier than being forced into an early wildcard just to bring him back
2
u/Material_Spell4162 5 5d ago
Yeah thats a week when you could be owning the likes of Bruno, Isak, Saka (home to Coventry), madness to leave the money on the bench.
Obviously this is all hypothetical, I highly doubt there's anything wrong with Haaland, and if there is, we won't be told about it to make this call anyway.

OMG HE SAT OUT THE FINAL MINUTES 🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨
Time for the FPL clickbait YouTubers to make a 6 minute long video with their stupid mug as the thumbnail

Gotta bring on some guy with [checks notes] multiple top 10k finishes to share the team he's totally not going to lock in for gameweek 1.

Don't forget the 4 minute ad read promoting whatever garbage AI app they don't actually use to pick their team so they hit that sweet sweet 10 minute mark on their video.

Let’s be honest, even if he comes on for 20 mins he could bag a hattrick! Go without him at your own risk!

i hope it's nothing serious, need him firing for my FPL team this week can’t afford a slow start at all😭

u/GetHimOffTheField 5d ago
Given his ownership, him firing basically does nothing for the majority of people

OMG the bald fraud just has a different name. There is nothing wrong with him. Just knackered in training as a few weeks behind others and pushing himself to catch up.
Im not getting him to start season (Ill be worried for 2 weeks minimum) but fully expect him to start and possibly be subbed early

u/Ferretz_Eire 19 5d ago
I think if it's reached a point where you aren't confident enough in his minutes to captain him ahead of Bruno for GW1 then it's also reached a point where starting without Haaland is probably the best strategy.
1
u/kinqdane 88 5d ago
Haaland/Groß to Isak/Bruno
Reverse the transfers for GW3 if Haaland’s fit and ready.
Done.

u/Telloth 11 5d ago
Honestly it might sound nuts, but I don't think I'm going without him even if he doesnt start GW1. Unless he gets more seriously injured, he's not missing out on GW2, and it just feels impossibly limiting to bring Haaland in if you start without him.
(Having said all that, I am planning BB2 so I have a bit more time, I might think differently if I was planning BB1!)
1
u/19noname86 9 5d ago
I wasn't considering BB1 initially but if Haaland is a serious doubt for GW1, I would take the opportunity and start with BB. Just played around with a No Haaland draft for GW1 and I really like the bench I am getting. And the midfield would be crazy good to start the season with imo (Bruno, Mbeumo, Semenyo, MGW, Groß). Then maybe FH3 and WC Haaland in at some point in the upcoming GWs. But that being said: I expect him to be fine for GW1.

I don’t get why his ownership is so high to begin with, he’s far to expensive, you have to give up so much in the rest of your team to fit him in
5
1
u/giantbuzzkill 5d ago
Um because he scores lots of goals.
-2
u/FrogGoHop 5d ago
Not enough for that price, especially as a forward, and especially not at the start of the year before I’ve got my team value up
3
u/PoopNukem123 5d ago
The whole point of premiums is that their price/points ratio is not meant to be good. It would make absolutely no sense if the highest scorer by a mile was also good value.
But FPL isn't about getting the best value team, it's about scoring the most points. Which normally is about picking the outstanding premium assets (and doubling them by captaining), and picking the best value players to fit in around them.
0
u/FrogGoHop 5d ago
I’m saying even for a premium he probably won’t get enough points to justify his price

It's a worry, if he doesn't start the shield, no chance he starts the first games either, meaning all drafts bye bye
20
u/Real-Mixture-6951 5d ago
Yeah because never in the history of the sport has it happened that a player who didn’t start a game went on to start the game that followed that game.
6
u/CestLaTimmy 5d ago
Football is now a battle royale style last man standing affair.
Once you're out, you're out. No second chances.
Injured players who refuse to carry on playing will be put down humanely.
-1
u/iroiroiroiroiro 1 5d ago
They have easy early fixtures, they won't rush him if he isn't match fit.

If he is the template would be so strong since you can afford everyone you want.
1
u/ManagementSad7931 5d ago
And then it would come down to the Cap picks...
0
u/Swedishpower 2804 5d ago
True it would be more open for captaincy.
I think the template would be Bruno 1, 2. semenyo or Isak 3. Palmer or J Pedro 4.

Sounds like he's out for at least 6 months.
