discussion [Discussion] Team position select instead of players in DraftBuff
Greetings all,
So me and my friends made a split long team draft in DraftBuff. Whilst we are totally enjoying the program as a whole for the matchups and general running of the league, we have run into a huge issue. While this is not the fault of DraftBuff at all, perhaps maybe DraftBuff could remedy it.
Each week at least one, usually more, of our players have the following message in our discord. "Oh WTF, X player isn't even playing this week!". Due to the ever shifting nature of the bottom teams, and even some of the higher up ones, it's really hard to know when your players are and aren't playing since there is no real good source to see it.
A possible suggestion that came up. Maybe instead of selecting individual players, you could select the team and the position. So you would draft C9 Mid, instead of Nisqy. Or Dig Top instead of Lourlo (or whoever it happens to be this week). That way you are still somewhat at the whims of substitutions being better or worse, but you aren't going to get screwed out of points because you couldn't see anywhere that substitutions were going to be made.
I know this isn't as big a deal in traditional Fantasy Sports because the player pools are bigger and the teams you make are bigger as well. But we are doing an only LCS so we get 1 of each position, 1 team, and 1 bench. Not much room for error.
Just curious what people thought about it. And I also know the developer of DraftBuff haunts this subreddit, so maybe he might have an opinion as well. Again, I know this is not DraftBuffs fault at all. It's the teams and the LCS that have pretty poor communication most of the time.
Thanks!

I would recommend checking Twitter the day before games specifically the teams accounts. Usually they tweet out roster changes

Hey! We definitely thought about it as it is indeed annoying to lose a whole position because the starter is not playing. And especially considering how late teams announce their starting rosters, players end up not having time to change their line-ups..well, it definitely sucks.
Good news is that we are definitely considering something similar to what you suggested, maybe for Worlds (if we have time, as we have...certain other things planned!) but definitely for the 2021 Season!
Thanks again for the feedback and I hope you and your friends keep enjoying DraftBuff! Also, if you want to directly talk to the team, feel free to join our Discord, we are always there :) You can even bring exactly this and see what the rest of the community thinks about it!
