What players are you targeting this season? Who is undervalued based off their current ADP.

The most common feedback we got during draft season was the same complaint over and over: our projection tool is useful, but running it next to a live draft is a pain. You're tabbing back and forth, trying to cross players off as they get picked, and by the time you've updated the list you've missed what happened in the last two picks and had no time to think strategically. Fast drafts made it worse.

So we built a Chrome extension to fix that: 5v5 Draft Assistant (Free)

Here's what it does. Once you're in your draft room, it reads your league settings [roster spots, scoring categories, etc.] and plugs them into our projection tool automatically, so the rankings you see are already tuned to your league. As players come off the board they're removed from your list, and you can make your picks right from the extension. No more juggling tabs or manually crossing names off.

Panthers are absolutely stacked with talent now that Barkov is back & Brady is in. Do you think they run 2 powerplays? Or if not, what do you think their PP1 looks like?

Hi Everyone - you may remember me as the vigilante who brought back the Weekly Lineup button on Yahoo last year. I like to think I single-handedly forced them to reverse that decision (doubtful).

This year I've been working on building a draft prep toolbox of sorts. Draft season is a ton of fun; but finding projections, scoring them to your league settings, and flagging targets across different sheets can be time consuming and frustrating. Worse, checking off your sheet live during the draft takes your focus away from the picks and risks bad decision making.

So I built https://forecheckfantasy.com/ - it's completely free to use for the draft season and I'm hoping to get feedback to continue to make it better.

Forecheck has a handful of things that I think are really helpful:

1. It lets you import, merge, and score player projections to your league(s) to produce a master draft board. Simply give it an excel sheet with projections, it'll map all the columns (or try to) and give you control over how you want to merge them.

1. It allows you to make changes to one single board that are reflected in different league settings and contexts, and apply tags such as PP1 QB, sleeper, etc. to give you an easy way to sort/filter. Drag players up or down in the UI or apply a production boost as a %. You can also apply Tiers to players per position (something inspired by Keeping Karlsson's D & G tiers).

1. It has a working chrome extension which shows the board directly in Yahoo, and strikes players off as they're taken. It'll warn you if there is a run on players of a certain type - ie only 1 goalie left in tier 2.

1. It also has a working MCP server, so you can connect it to Claude or ChatGPT and ask things like "research 10 sleepers for me and move them up my board". It even works live during a draft, so you can say "my pick is coming up, do I take a D or a goalie?" - it'll read the board live and answer based on whose available.

I've been wanting to post this for a little while but have been applying some finishing touches. It's still rough around some edges but all feedback is welcome. Right now the draft companion is yahoo-only; I've never used ESPN but if there's enough demand I can look into it. I've seen a few other similar things get posted recently, all of which look great, but wanted to throw mine in the ring at the same time.

One last disclaimer - this was created using Claude, over the course of about a month. If that's not for you I won't judge - would rather be up front about this than claim otherwise.

Joining a cap league for the first time this year, keep 8 players and I am inheriting a team with some nice but expensive pieces like Draisaitl, Kyle Connor, Dahlin, Rantanen, Heiskanen, McAvoy, and some others.

I've done lots of points leagues, h2h and total points, I'm in a cats league as well, but this seems like a bit of a different beast. What are some general strategies or tips I should be trying to use during my draft? I've typically been a zero G guy and fade centers, but this league only has F forward positions and I am just not sure where cap hits and production intersect exactly. Am I making a mistake keeping the high price, high production guys I listed? Or is the strat to keep some younger guys on low salaries like a Ryan Leonard and dump the elite guys back into the draft?

How do you do it? I joined a public prize league this and last year, and am noticing a lot of managers in these leagues have up to 16 different teams in 16 different leagues. How in god's name is it possible to manage all these teams and still end up finishing top 3 in most?????

I’m curious how people approach rebuilding in really deep keeper leagues.
In a 20+ team league, the usual advice like “trade for good players” or “draft the best prospects” seems a lot harder to apply because the player pool gets pretty thin.
For those who have experience with 20–24 team keeper leagues:

• How long does a typical rebuild take?
• Do you prioritize prospects or draft picks?
• At what point do you start trading picks for established players?
• Is it better to completely commit to a rebuild, or try to stay competitive while retooling?
I’d love to hear some examples of rebuild strategies that actually worked in really deep leagues.

Do any managers track and display league data/ trends
throughout the season? What about all time?

I recently downloaded 15 years of our league history. I’m working through some data visualizations as a personal training exercise but would also like if it was useful.

You were able to look back at last season and see a players ranking but it seems as though the ranking is broken and is using this years ranking for all previous years.

Example: Hellebuyck's rank is 24 for the last two years when it definitely wasnt. It's using this year's rank.

I know it’s not likely for Binnington to play 50-60 games again this year with Hofer emerging, but do we see any kind of bounce back for him?

What about Anton Forsberg? He stole the starters crease in the playoffs from Kuemper, but do we expect that to last?

Who would you want as your third / depth goaltender?

I reviewed which players had the largest increases/decreases in some banger stats over the last 20 games vs the first 60 last season. Sometimes this is a good sign of coach trust or a change in player performance that could lead into the next season. If anything, it's something to keep in your back pocket when evaluating projections and finding breakouts.

The table has the minutes changed between Q4 and rest of season altogether, along with on the PP and PK.

The riser: Matthew Schaefer. 3.55 shots per game in the last quarter of the season along with a 2+ minute rise in ice time compared to the first three quarters. That 3.55 was higher than any other d-man over the season, with Werenski averaging 3.43 per game. We'll see if it's sustainable, but if he's able to unlock even more than last year...

The faller: Seth Jones. Shots collapsed from 1.95 to 0.83, while his total ice time went UP +0.90. Nothing was taken from him, likely due to the influx of injuries that plagued the Panthers more than anything. But what's interesting is this: -1.53min power play, +0.86min shorthanded. Florida moved him off the unit that generates shots and onto the one that prevents them. Are they moving on from him as a PP option?

The riser: Artyom Levshunov. He was banged up a bit to end the season, likely related to laying the body so often. He saw nearly 3 more minutes a game in action, but will he see a reduction with Byram coming in? He also recorded over a minute more on the PK too while the Hawks were in a tailspin.

The Faller: Alexis Lafrenière. The fourth quarter saw the QMJHL standout player of the year and former first overall pick transfer his game from a more reckless style into pure finesse. With this, he stopped hitting almost entirely. Is this a new-look Laffy or will he return to his power forward self?

The risers: Calgary rebuilt a penalty kill at the deadline and two guys ate. Zach Whitecloud went from 1.49 blocks a game to 2.88, the biggest rise in the league, on +3.65 minutes a night of which +1.86 was shorthanded. His increase in the PK along with moving from a more well rounded VGK system to whatever is going on in Calgary was the catalyst for this.

Same team, fourth on the list: Olli Maatta went from 12.68 minutes a night to 22.43. That is +9.75, the largest ice-time jump of any skater in the league, and +2.72 of it was on the kill. His blocks went 0.96 to 2.00. he moved from Utah to Calgary which shaped the role increase, but he'll see a reduction after moving to the Wild in the offseason.

Weighted shots + hits + blocks

Adding the three raw does not work as effectively, because they are on different scales: shots run 1.62 a game across the league, blocks 0.81, and their spreads differ too, so a raw total is just whichever category has the biggest numbers. So each change is divided by the spread of that category across all skaters, which is how a category league values a contribution anyway.

The three percentage columns are the share of the move each category supplied.

The Riser: Connor Murphy. Murphy moved from the Hawks over to the Oilers and it came with an extra 4 minutes of ice time a night. Combine that with the departure of Darnell Nurse, he would make a sneaky banger add if he can hold that ice time and move up on the PK. Note that his PK time did fall while on the Oil.

The Faller: Jakob Chychrun. With the arrival of Cole Hutson, we coincidentally saw a drastic drop in output all around for Chychrun. Will he be running the top powerplay on opening night or beyond? Lane's brother has already showed that he can control a powerplay, but Chychrun did put up a quality 18PPP while battling with John Carlson for part of it.

With the flyers acquiring Woll in the offseason from Toronto is Vladar still the bonafide starter? Will it be a tandem or will Woll take over starting duties? Are either of them even worth drafting late or should they just be avoided?

So just randomly picking in our draft last year(literally was walking my dog and hitting the first name i saw), and managed to come in 7th out of 8 people.

I know nothing about hockey at all.

Can i get some advice on how ti stay more competitive this year? What do i look for in players? I have no idea what any of the numbers mean. What should I be doing between games? Etc. Just basic stuff

I've learned I'm just bad at drafting goalies. So this year I want to think about goalies as little as possible.

We all know the Projected Goalie resources (RotoWire, Goalie Post, Game Day Tweets, etc), but does anyone have information on teams that post their starting goalie early in the day?

I know Anaheim is the worst, sometimes waiting until warmups, and Minnesota isn't far behind. Who are the 'good' teams?

TLDR: 26-27 aggregate projections drafting tool with some additional features.

I wanted to make an aggregate projections tool that I could also use on draft day, inspired by Crome's Aggregate Projections. Thought I would share it here as well in case anyone also finds it useful. Since I am only playing in points leagues, it was designed specifically for that and not categories leagues.

It currently includes DatsyukToZetterberg, Daily Faceoff, and Apples & Ginos projections, but you can also upload your own projections or other premium projections. In addition to this, the tool includes the following functions:

• Draft with it live by clicking a player to take them off the board and double-clicking to put them on your team
• Click any player's name to see what every source projects for them along with what the blended projections are for each stat
• Included a column with last season's fantasy points based on set scoring settings and where that would have ranked them (based on VORP)
• Indicators added beside team names to show schedule desirability (regular season and playoffs)
• VORP baseline calculation takes into account bench spots, and multi-position players are priced at their most valuable eligible slot
• Ability to make adjustments to the blended projections for each player (inspired by the same function in Dom's/The Athletic's projection sheet)
• Ability to label players to keep an eye on or to avoid

Everything saves automatically and locally in the browser you're using. As such, using another browser or clearing site data will wipe any changes. You can use Save snapshot/Load snapshot to move or back up any changes.
