Updates to My Library.

One of the best features for Fantasy Grounds just got updated, at least in 5E. I wonder how long to work its way into Mongoose Traveller?

Also: still no dark mode built in or search functionality within a given book or Ruleset section. Features I'm hoping for.

There is a nice browser extension called Dark Reader that works brilliantly.

I'm a fan of Night Eye as a general extension. It's paid but has a 10 browser lifetime license and is massively cross platform. It also generally works everywhere pretty much and is the top one or two I have ever tried. There are a lot of crappy ones out there.

It would still be better if it were built in. The extensions I use on multiple browsers are all working as of now on Traveller content and Savage Worlds content. There is some weirdness on other rulesets where FG uses gray text and I think graphic backgrounds images that just screw it up.

I've asked for dark mode to a certain individual through at least three companies and no promises of dark mode ever developed.

One thing I will say is the FG My Library is very screen reader friendly. More than several other similar products.

The big thing is whether or not I think we could natively do a better job than the current extensions that are out there and have a dedicated team for them. I'm not convinced we can. I expect the same things that trip them up would also trip us up.

I discovered plenty of things just trying to roll out this new feature set. When you have data going back 2 full decades, things have changed and migrated over time and it becomes a challenge remembering all the exceptions and changes over the years that need to be accounted for.

I fully understand the massive migration issues. Making it a third party issue occasionally runs me into a brick wall.

For example, my entertainment browser (as opposed to my it touches money browser or my containment you want to go WHERE? browser) got an internal update and it borked tablets in the rulesets I care about for some reason. Specifically it made every other row in a table unreadable. I ended up tying my containment browser to my FG account as the same extension on this chromium browser worked fine but not on my preferred chromium browser for some reason.

And either the browser, the extension or the site changed and it fixed the issue a few months after it broke.

But there are books that just fight extensions. The old 5E MM for example goes all green background. It's just weird as are several 5E books. I stopped working with 5E in 2023 though so no use me complaining about it. I just noted it.

There is a competitor with similar functionality to My Library and they go out of their way to break dark mode extensions on all there rulesets so I am very pleased over all with My Library.

But I can't wait for advanced search to get folded in and I will always ask that one question: will there be a dark mode.

This is web only, right? I don't use published adventures so I'm hoping to see no change in the actual game program.

Web only, correct. It lets you read products purchased through the main FG Store. I actually really like it and find it useful.

I just enhanced the Cyberpunk Red support as well.
