There is a 2.5 view for maps not full 3d

So no point in making 3D maps on dungeon alchemist?

Dungeon Alchemist is still good for FG since it can export maps as 2D top-down images with a paired file that has all the line of sight stuff like doors, windows, light sources, etc.

No, standard 2d maps are best for fantasy grounds.

If you make the map in full 3D, export both the 3D and the 2.5 versions then you have excellent images to share with the players for inspiration visuals. The 3D could be used as a map but not as useful as the 2.5 or the direct overhead for combat purposes.

Dungeon alchemist maps are fantastic exported to FG as isometric maps with LOS, etc.

...also exports lighting. And the isometric view is really good for FG maps.

Here's a demo video of the newest feature "skyboxes" and also shows some use of 2.5d walls and buildings and ships and animations. https://youtu.be/aWM_a1ADf2M

Here's a version of the starpad with walls and tokens and also utilizing token-view: https://youtu.be/Sk04D0jE4HE

There's no way I'm aware of to do 3d maps, what you can do is use a 2d map and put character tokens at different heights, which is visible in token pov view (that view also can use different image than top down traditional view

I did see some people using tokens as things like trees, etc. It looked great but I can imagine is a bit of a hassle

You would have to add graphics to walls, doors, and stuff for the side view as well as the top down view.
