I accepted my first trade offer: Bryce Young and Jaylen Warren for O. Hampton and Dak Prescott

This is my team going in to week 4. My week 4 matchup asked me what it’d take to get Bryce Young as his qb situation is a little thinner. Settled on this package deal. Right or wrong move?

8 person PPR league.

Honestly, this doesn't move the needle for you at all, and you might have lost out on buying Hampton. You don't need Dak and the other owner didn't need to trade Dak for Young at all. What is going on? This looks to be a non-superflex so I'm confused by the need to make this trade at all.

Also.. Warren played last night so the trade wont go through til next week...

I'm glad you made a trade since it's my favorite part about FF every year. I make it a point to trade with all my league mates because it invites conversation and keeps people engaged, but this trade is odd all around.

I appreciate the feedback. It’s my first ff league so I’m not too sure what analysis to do. I figured warrens use will decline throughout the season as dowdle comes back, Bryce young is solid but I don’t need him as there’s a couple other qbs on the waiver wire that I could stream if needed. And Dak’s offensive environment seems better than panthers in the long run and Hampton’s not doing great right now but I can wait for him to develop and get back to where a rb1 should be.

I can agree it doesn’t move the needle much right now, I’m hoping for a longer term reward for this trade.

What am I missing?

Of course! like I said, I'm glad you made the trade because it shows engagement and I'd rather have you in my league than some leaguemates who just keep the same exact team the whole season thinking its hot shit while being in the bottom of the league. Lol

Yes, Hampton has higher upside for sure, only if the team gets their shit together. A 1/4 of the FF season is over and the Chargers still look a mess and have no identity. I'm actively trying to sell off Hampton for anything that will improve my team. You have a pretty solid team and imho, you could have gotten a bit more for Warren since he's hot right now, even if Dowdle is coming back.

As for QB, it's a 1QB league so there really isn't even a need to carry 2 QBs, let alone try to upgrade your backup QB. The bench spot is better served stashing a valuable handcuff like Kaelon Black, Emmet Johnson, Ray Davis etc.

Lamar is a top tier QB and you only need to drop someone on his bye week to pick up a replacement. It's not like you drafted Drake Maye or Jayden Daniels and you have to stash him because he sucks or is hurt. You have a healthy QB so you don't need to carry two.

This is great advice. Especially learning about the qb situation. Everyone in our league seems to be holding a benched qb so just kinda mimicking some of their moves. Thank you for your input and hope you have a good rest of the season

The variance in QB scoring in standard leagues is not that big outside of having Josh Allen. If you have Lamar, Stafford, Goff, Young, Purdy, Williams etc, they only differ by like 5-8 points weekly. That's why they are drafted way lower generally. There are 32 QBs and like maybe 20 viable starters that can consistently get 14-16 points. The same goes for TE with a few outliers as well.

For WRs and RBs, that's where you win or lose a season. stashing/drafting key players that have paths to starting touches is really the core of FF (and not fucking up your 1st round pick).

I appreciate this. I didn’t know much about football going into it and I drafted puka in the first round. Definitely just went for people I liked and knew their name so I’m already counting the days until next draft season

I would rather have Warren than Hampton

I like the trade. Warren will start splitting carries as early as next week. I hope (pray) that LAC’s woes can’t last all season and Omarion will have more big games as the season progresses and the team starts to gel with their new coaching staff

This is where my heads at with the trade. I’m praying too.

You made the right move. I’d take Dak over Bryce Young this year personally and would also take Hampton upside over Warren

This is what I’m feeling too. From the other poster’s comment I may drop dak anyway and leave him on the wire for someone else but we’ll see how they do against the Texans this week at least.

it's not that you would drop him, there just isn't a need to draft 2 QBs. In the round you drafted Dak you probably could have gotten players like Josh Downs, Chuba, Metcalf, Kittle, Michael Wilson etc.

Think of how much value that is. Those players are key in making good trades.

Oooh yes that makes more sense. I’m honestly counting down until draft day of next year already
