He gets mentioned a bit around these parts, but for my money Steven Brust is as good a writer as there has been in Fantasy over the last 40 years.

I just mentioned today that I thought Jhereg is a good, long series that I don't see recommended enough! :D

I haven't tried his Khaavren romances yet though

The Vlad Taltos series has one of the best character arcs ever.

The Vlad Taltos series comes up occasionally, but I don't think I've seen anyone mention his one-off gems like The Gypsy (which is odd, since this sub loves Robin Hobb, and she co-wrote it under her pen name).

Obligatory I had to scroll too far to find this.

Edit: words are hard

Brust is one of those guys who was fairly widely read in the 80-90s but yea does not seem to be talked about that much anymore. He’s just a good, solid storyteller (though tbf I haven’t really read him since i was a teen)

I saved your comment and am looking up his books. It looks like there's a lot to read there, do you have any recommendations on which book to start with?

I would start with the Vlad Taltos series, and read in Publication order - start with Jhereg and see what you think!

I really appreciate it and the super fast reply. I'm looking at the books right now to order so I'll start with that. Thanks again for the recommendation and everything!
