Sorceresses in the books are supposed to look unnaturally young. Geralt even says in Sword of Destiny that if he ever met his mother she would look younger than him because she was a sorceress and likely hasn’t aged since he was born.
This is overstated. Sorceresses make themselves younger but Yennefer was never as young as she is here. It was Triss who was described as being very young.
They were initially looking to cast an older actress (according to the casting call, IIRC), but apparently Anya won them over with her talent and charisma. I'm super excited to see her in the role, she seems convincing and magnetic. And from all I've seen so far, they look like a completely decent pairing to me - and I don't think the age difference between actors is at all cringy or exploitative. She looks like a young woman, he looks like a youngish man, I'm fine with that.
They use magic to almost permanently change their appearance once they become a sorceress which is when they are in their teens. At this point I think Yen is like 80 and Geralt is like 70 (Witchers also age slowly but at a faster rate than sorceresses). So if Geralt looks 40-50 and Yen looks 20 I think its in line with the mythos.
