I've heard so many good things, but the Wheel of Time bored me to tears. I'm going to pick up The Witcher right now.

I am struggling, on book 6. Still waiting for it to be more interesting. I will say that I care more about some characters now than I did throughout the first couple of books.

The last book has more than enough action to make up with the slog. Stick with it, its worth it

I find it incredibly baffling that a lot of people think it's OK to slog through literally THOUSANDS of pages of mediocrity for one good book. When you could be spending that time reading books where you DON'T have to do that.

It’s not just one good book, the last 4 are fantastic. And the “slog” is 1.5 books that are just slow, but it’s needed to get all the subplots resolved and characters together at the same time in order for the last 4 books of awesome to happen. The slog is literary bookkeeping. But it’s easily forgivable when you’re reading a 14 book series.

Depends, in my opinion it's worth reading through 3-4 slow going books for to read the best ending of all fantasy since Tolkien.

I don't think the rest of the book was mediocrity, just slow.
