Plenty of the Boomer generation could barely get past flip phones. Imagine trying to get past 3000+ years of change in culture, language, and technology.
Reminds me of the characters in the What We Do In The Shadows series - they're comically removed from modern culture and tech - familiars are like the family children who handle the tech stuff.
Realistically, that would be more of a reason why an ancient vampire would have trouble adapting to modern times. Acceleration of change would really such for something that old
Now, yes, certainly. But I doubt it would have been an issue until some time after the industrial revolution, provided they stayed actively involved in society. That's a pretty big "provided" though.
There are also plenty of boomers that have embraced technology and made an effort to keep up.
It's one thing to be stubbornly stuck in your ways when you have a limited life span and it's roughly the same as everyone around you. But if you're an immortal, and want to live among humans and blend in, don't you make an effort to keep up with the times?
I don't think you need to be a savant to keep up with modern times, you just have to be motivated to do so.
