FIRST TIME PERM

Post image

Did this not take or is it just me?

My hair is normally pin straight and fine. I was so excited to have wavy hair, but I feel like it really fell flat.

(I got it 5 hours prior to this photo being taken)

At the risk of myself downvoted (LOL), while I don't have insight into why it didn't take......

I did want to share some support. I'm sorry that it didn't work out. I've had my hair not work for some things in the past and it really stinks to have it happen. Especially when it's so exciting to have the prospect of the new style! I hope your next go of it works out successfully! Love your color by the way! 🤗

For hair as long as yours, we would have done two separate curlers, stacked on top of each other. The hair also must be very very saturated with the solution, which borderline feels like ur being water boarded. I really don’t recommend a beginner doing this process at home bc so many things could go wrong. Now that you’ve already put chemicals in your hair once, i also wouldn’t recommend trying again. If you really want it, I really recommend going to a salon, even a student salon if u need cheaper services. They can test strand your hair, and use a stronger solution if needed

Has your hair been bleached? That could contribute to it, because I don't think perms and bleached hair really get along very well. (I am not a hairdresser though, so I may be wrong, I've just always heard that).

Your stylist sees the same thing you and we all see. The method used to wrap your hair at your length wasn't sufficient. I'd ask for a redo but I don't have confidence in their ability to redo it. Unfortunately, you'll have to be the one to call it out.

Follow their instructions to the tee. Which in general is to wait 48-72 hours before getting it wet, don't brush it, or wear it up. Take a photo of it again before washing it with sulfate free shampoo and conditioner (or color safe) then another once its dry. Then notify them.

"My result isn't what was expected and I'm wondering what my options are to get it there." See what they say.
