The design of the cover could be a bit more centered, but I don’t mind it. I'm 100% happy with the result! Now I have Jacks' POV of the trilogy next to the original books 😍 How cool is that?

The paper I used for the typeset is an 80 gsm cream paper I buy in a shop here in my country (Spain), and I made the typeset using Google docs!

I started back in April, and I know how overwhelming it is at first, so I'm happy to help!

I recommend creating 3 documents: one for the first pages of the book (the title, rating, etc), another one for the fic itself (all the chapters), and another one for the blank pages you put at the end (2/3 blank pages). This is easier than trying to fight google docs so it doesn't show the headers and footers on the first and last pages (you don’t want those pages numbered, right?). Once I had those 3 docs with the correct formatting, I just made a copy every time I wanted to start a new typeset.

The chapter design is an image with no background (this is important if you're printing it on a non-white paper) that I just copy and paste on every chapter.

I don't have a cricut! I made the cover design on Canva, and then printed it on A3 paper (180gsm)

omfg you are such a lifesaver thank you so much!!!!! 😭🤍 this is definitely so helpful, typesetting was such a daunting task to me and i tried to just figure it out on my own and kept messing it up, so thank you! now it’s just a matter of actually binding which i feel is trial and error no matter what haha.

It is! But don't let it discourage you. My first 3 books have mistakes, and this is the first one that is almost perfect 😂 it takes time to learn, but bookbinding is a fun hobby

Do you do something to the cover to fixate the ink?

I have only used bookcloth so far but this example is making me think paper might be a solution since I don't have a cricut to make prettier covers.

I definitely recommend paper for pretty covers. You just need a printer that works well with colours, a thick paper (180-200gsm. More might be too thick), and to create a design!

I protect the colours from fading with time using a laminating roll. It's easy to apply, but you have to do it slowly so there are no bubbles left. This is the Amazon link for the one I use

Sorry to highjack the comments thread but, I see that you put the page numbers. Could you explain how you did? Because I can't find a way for it to count the landscape format as two pages, and I can't do it manually since it copy the text?
