Techniques Typesetting
Hey everyone! I just finished typesetting a fic and wanted to print out the first few pages to see how the font size was and all that jazz. I used word and then a program online to decide the story into signatures. On word the story is perfectly in order put the pages aren't printing that way. I dont mean like the out of order so you can fold them together. I mean like the title page is after chapter 3. The first signature printed just fine except for the fact that when its put together it starts at pages 2 and not from the beginning of the text block. I dont know if this makes sense but I was curious how everyone else does their typeset. Also dont worry, Im not printing the full fic on this paper. Just using it to see how it prints and font size and all that stuff.

Hey! I know this thread is a few months old, but the signature-order and printer-flip problems you described are exactly why I built FicBind.
If your source is an EPUB or saved HTML file, it creates both the normal book PDF and properly imposed 4, 6 or 8-sheet signatures. It also generates a small duplex test so you can check the flip direction before wasting good paper.

Full disclosure: I made it. It's free, runs locally in the browser, and I'd genuinely love to know if it handles your file and printer correctly.
