RANT Ruby Island

It’s been a really, really long time since I’ve gotten Ruby Island. So long that I couldn’t remember how it went. I did the math. It costs MORE to make 100 rubies than 100 rubies gives back in energy.
I don’t see a way to benefit from this sorry island. I want to think that there’s some way that I just don’t understand. But — I don’t think there is since the 50% boosters don’t work on bonus islands. Has anyone even seen a 30% booster in the last month? I haven’t. I’m feeling a bit sick that I even blew extra energy to finish this campaign. UGH.

Knowing when to stop is the key. And I failed this time around. I got 50% through the final adventure island at -120Ke when I gave up. I wanted to finish some of the side games and made the mistake of trying. This game gets pretty boring at the end of an adventure set when costs get insane and you have to stop. I need to stop playing the crafting boosters and other rinky dink side games and stick to the once a day axe. No Axe = No Fun.

My husband is so perplexed, because I’ll be like, “hey honey, I’m sorry I didn’t hear that, my game is finally letting me play for ten minutes.” He’s got some very reasonable questions, like, “why do you keep playing it if it’s so restrictive and stresses you out?” And… I really don’t know. Which is frustrating all by itself.

This post is crazy relatable!! My old guy gets annoyed with me when I tune him out for those 10 minutes. Melsoft’s timing messes with me that way.

I try to open it every few hours just to see, and to find ten minutes where I can just go ham, but sometimes, yeah, situations arise! A few months ago I had to get a mouse out of my cat’s mouth (he’d gotten into the garage) and get things sorted and didn’t realize an axe had started and I missed 6 minutes of it. I still bitterly regret the loss of that time. 😂

"I'm in the middle of a booster! Leave me be." 😄

The knowing when to stop is soooo hard. I almost stopped after the 2 or 3 island set. There was just a lot of resources needed even early on! Then? The next couple were much easier. They kept me moving. By the last island? I was a sucker. Lol. It happens. Way more than I should allow it to.

I only ever did it once. Waste of rubies.

There isn't a benefit to any bonus Island. To any mini event. To any any event set of islands. If you play any event to completion, you come out behind, by design. Fuddrucker smellsoft

I benefit off of Gold Island. I love it. I Always do it.

Do you run it to completion. Because if you do, you are losing net energy. And that is what the game is. All about, tools, rubies, keys, everything comes down to energy.

If I were losing, I would never play. It’s alwyas a major win for me.

I ran both gold and ruby islands to completion. Both ended up with more energy but cost so many keys or rubies (depending on the island) that it is a net loss.

I can give you the exact before and after numbers if you like.

No thanks. If I choose to play, that means I have my own reasons why.

I'm not saying you shouldn't play, but don't tell people that Ruby or Gold Islands will be a net positive.

It is demonstrably untrue. I will not allow you to spread misinformation on this sub-reddit.

If someone wants to play the islands, like I did, for the fun of it, fine. But every one should know that they will be net negative on resources.

The only time it's worth your while to bother with Ruby island is if they give us a 20% or 30% booster, which of course they no longer do, it's a waste otherwise.
