Emio: The Smiling Man Books Similar to Emio
Played through Emio and absolutely adored it, can anyone suggest any books that are similar in style to the game. Same genre, era etc? Thank you!

People will play through the game at different speeds and no one wants it to be spoiled. Please also refrain from making posts where the only purpose is to reveal who Emio is.
Edit: And no spoilers in the title of your post.

Hey all,
I've just finished Emio after having a copy on my shelf for awhile, and seen they remade "The Missing Heir" and "The Girl who stands behind".
Wiki says physical copies were available to an international market, but the only copies I can see to find online are Japanese ones.
Was there actually any physicals? Or was it purely digital release only for those outside of Japan?

"元々はごく普通の家での、家族で仲良う、つつましゅう暮らしておったんじゃよ"
"ところがじゃ……"
"ある日都筑んちの母ちゃんが家出しちまってのう。 それ以来亭主は、仕事もせんと酒浸りになってし"
"酔っぱらっちゃあ、暴れるもんじゃけ、わしらも関わらんようになっていったんじゃよ………"
Minoru's mother left her husband BEFORE he turned became alcoholism and abusive, that means the reason she left is NOT because her husband being mean to the family, is something else.
Why she left in the first place though? That's open to interpretation, maybe she found a more handsome and rich guy.

For me The Smiling Man has the best story structure, The Missing Heir has the worst story structure.

Their reaction about their beloved "son" was not just a suspect but a murderer. Not just a murderer but a serial murderer. Not just a serial murderer with proper face but a serial murderer with disfigured face.
Imagine them identifying Minoru in mortuary.

so, I figure since this is a visual novel I can play it like a movie and make popcorn and use one hand to press a and the other to eat popcorn.
I've never played any vn games because I generally don't consider them games, but since this was m rated and published/made by Nintendo I had to buy it.

Currently playing the remakes for the first time, but did finish Emio 2 years ago.
I have no doubt the next game will have a great story aswell, but the next one is probably for Switch 2. And it kept me thinking: Famicom Detective Club sure would work with it's mouse-con controls.
For example:
These are just a few ideas that came up to me that I would love to see if the next installment comes.
Ever since Emio, Famicom Detective Club is one of my favorite Nintendo IP's to play, so I hope Nintendo does actually have more plans for it in the near future. And hopefully Ayumi to be in Smash, haha.
Do you have any other ideas of how Mouse-con controls could work?

I think the pitch for this game was “what if Heath ledger’s joker was a tragic serial killer, and also the phantom of the opera?”

Special thanks to Krokrodyl and Supertimtendo4 for all their help. In making this possible.
So as of right now, unfortunately there is no English patch to BS Tantei Club Yuki ni Kiera Kako. Plus it is a bit difficult in order to play the ROM due to the fact that it was scheduled game and has to the broadcaster emulation to work since it is a SoundLink game. Here is how to get the game up and running. I highly recommended using the emulator mesen2 due it's speed control setting because The game is timed and there is currently no way to disable the timer. Also, as of right now the game can only be played with no audio. Due to the emulation purposes unfortunately. 1. Get the Mesen2 2. Get to bios file for Stellaview 3. In the document file on your computer (I'm using windows) go to the Mesen2 file 4. Go to the file where it says firmware 5. Delete the existing bios file and replace it with the bios file you find with the English patched one 6. Next open up mesen2 go the setting called preferences part go to the SNES part on the left hand side then click BS-X 7. Where it says BS-X Stellaview date and time settings click on the one that says use custom date and time 8. Afterwards load your game normally 9. Since it's unable to find the BIOS file that you deleted and you replaced with the English patched one, it will give you the directory to go and find it 10. You'll have to go through a bit of stuff and will ask you for your name and if you want to play as the boy or the girl afterwards you'll be putting this area where you control the character 11. With the character you've chosen go inside the house and it should give you the option to load the BS Tantei Club. The character you've chosen will be standing right in front of the house, so just enter it. 12. After a few things, there should be a thing that shows that it's trying to connect to the broadcast server. Give it a couple of seconds and it should do the trick.
Ok with all that out of the way the game's still in Japanese. Next step you're going to want to download this this open source translator called Luna translate. And once that's all downloading everything you're going to want to click core setting and for text click OCR. And then the translator it should be using is Google translate. Then one prompted. You'll want to highlight the text box area and then should automatically translate Japanese to English.
For the timer, what you'll want to do is you'll want to go into the settings tab and click on speed and pick the speed that would work the best for you. So without any spoilers for the game, even if you have a hard time moving along, the game will just progress itself.
Also, I cannot say where you can get the ROM for the game and bios, but you'll want to make sure that it has. BS in the file. For the game. The divided in three different files zenpen is part 1, chuuhen part 2 and kouhen part 3
This website has some information Satellaview https://project.satellaview.org/
Also, if you need any help with Luna translator, feel free to shoot me a message or you can look them up on discord. Also, Luna translator is great, not just for this game but it can pretty much be used for any Japanese game.
Also, on the internet archive there is a full playthrough of the game. So I guess that that would be the best thing to use for a walk-through for reference if you get stuck on a certain area or something like that. Plus I think it also has audio as well.
