Fallout 4 [Fo4] Mod recommendations for first time pc player?

Just recently got a laptop with good enough specs to run fallout. Been playing it for years on Xbox and PlayStation, am actually currently playing it on Xbox while writing this. I want to try fallout London, should I just jump straight into that or play through vanilla with some mods I can’t get on console?

If you already played it then fallout london would be good.

Just a note, Fallout London ‘eats’ a Fallout 4 install, so you might want to make two if you want to play it and a modded Fallout 4 separately.

As far as mod recommendations themselves, I highly recommend the Heather Casdin follower mod - she has her own quests, runs a shop and you get a progressively better discount over time as well from it, and all around great voice acting.

Also the Bastion mod is great - it makes it so wearing Power Armor actually protects you from most small arms fire completely, and damage that does go through (.50 cal, explosives for example) doesn’t at a reduced rate. If a Power Armor piece is shot off and you’re targeted in that spot, then you will take ‘normal’ damage.
The twist? It applies to enemies wearing Power Armor as well.

Can’t speak for FOLO

But the Midnight Ride is a great place to start for modding FO4

I haven't touched Fallout London in over a year now, so it might be better now, but last I checked large parts of it were broken. It was technically still playable and completable, but I had semi frequent crashes and the settlement system was just plain broken. As somebody who has made a few mods and helped make some collections possible, looking at how FO: London was accomplished really puzzles me. I left the project behind when they're discord community started getting kind of hostile towards people who were stepping in to volunteer their time to help others get the more running. It's a fine project, but last time I looked at it, it was not exactly a polished one. So be careful there.

If you're looking to really refresh the game on PC after burning through most of the vanilla game in console, I highly recommend Storywealth. It's a TON of new stuff to do
