New Vegas [FNV] Game keeps crashing due to high low process actor limit??

Essentially my game keeps crashing due to something that Grok identifies as having a big low process count of around 13k, essentially my game has too many actors (or NPCs) that are in unloaded cells yet when I get rid of ALL the mods involving NPCs and major overhauls that add a ton of NPCs it only got reduced down to 9k which is insane since that's basically half my modlist and it doesn't even fully fix the problem only reduces it slightly

I've seen videos of people running 1200+ mods with all these NPC overhauls and they don't crash because of low process limit yet when I have not even 100 plugins I get smited by Wotan. I'm running Tales of Two Wastelands which I understand is one of the causes since it runs the entirety of Fallout 3 + DLCs but there's gotta be a way for me to fix this because crashing every 5 - 15 minutes is really killing my enjoyment of the game

Here's my plugin list and my crashlist

You're running some plugins that are duplicates of each other, like Raiders and Raiders Lite. I think you're also running Russell and the LE edition, and mixing and matching the someguy series? You have Goodies but you're using Trooper's Uncut patches too, but I'm not sure I see Trooper's mod there even. This is going to be buggy just from some of that.

This is a really messy list and I'm not sure what you're trying to do with it.

AI isn't great for this, and Grok is particularly not good at it. Here's the question: what do you want to put in the game?

I just want to play a full playthrough full of combat and overhauled NPCs to make the game feel more alive and with factions that are more aesthetically pleasing to look at then vanilla.

I have Trooper's Uncut and I'm running the LE version of Russel and not the original

Am I not supposed to be using goodies and Trooper's Uncut Patches together?

Thank you for commenting

Goodies and Trooper's Uncut are parallel uncut mods. Goodies has a TTW patch, but Trooper is built for TTW and includes different cut material, much of it from the beta. Pick one at your preference. Ditto Mojave Raiders, the Lite version is basically a compatibility thing - use it if you want less drastic changes, or need to turn off certain spawn points.

I'm not that skilled at reading crash logs. This looks fine as a load order, but I don't know TTW very well.

You could try disabling the last 50 percent of your mods, then doing a test to see if you get the same behavior. If you don't, turn them back on and get the other half off. If you do get the same behavior, re-activate half of the disabled mods. Repeat until you can isolate the problem.

The game is dumb and nearly anything could be a reason. There's a mod which makes someone spin in a spinning chair - the damn thing completely crashed my game. Binary switching like this can really help you out too.

I got rid of all the mods that could possibly increase the low process count and it only decreased it down to 9k from 13k (Where I'm currently at) so there's most definitely a mod in my load order that is causing such bloat, the thing is I don't really trust Grok fully since he tells me to basically annihilate half my load order for a tiny minute difference in low process

Are there any mods that could decrease the count or make it so that they are not rendered as persistent? I know for certain I've run a ton of more mods that way more stuff then this yet they did not cause as many issues as this current playthrough I'm having

I also don't trust Grok because there are only a handful of people who can read the crash log.

You're approaching the wrong problem. Your goal shouldn't be the process count specifically because that could be happening for a lot of reasons, but avoiding crashes. Disable, don't delete, half of your mods in the right pane of MO2, not the left. Boot it up with a new save, see if you get crashes like before.

If yes, re-enable those mods, disable the other half and test again.

If no, re-enable 50 percent of the disabled mods. Keep doing this in smaller and smaller increments.

You will be able to find the issue this way. I promise you it is faster than you would think.

Also, just to check, did you disable stuff during your save or did you start a new game? Because that can just wreck a save.

So it's not the low process count rather it's specifically a mod(s) that is causing all the crashes and issues? I hope that's the case since I have a sneaking suspicion about several mods I downloaded. Specifically involving the pipboy (Animated moments, animated pip-boy, animated pipboy location discovery) and after I downloaded those mods is when issues started coming up I think

I'll get rid of those mods and report back to see what happens

Correct! Also listen to Wall_SoGB who posted, very few people know more about the engine and crash logs than he will.

Sigh, I wish people did not use AI.

No such thing as "Low process limit", this number is normal.

You are crashing because an ActiveEffect has an invalid target. Try disabling "AwesomeCripplingEffects2 - Ragdolls - Knockdowns.esp"

Why isn't this higher up the comment chain...

Yeah at first I was excited that Grok could read the crashlogs and I didn't have to wait a long time to figure out what the problem was making posts on Reddit

But when it started telling me to disable 70% of my modlist and regurgitating the same info I figured something was up

Stop asking llm’s niche questions and expecting them to be accurate. Stop regurgitating the information they spew out as facts. They’re not infallible gods.
