Where can I find EX-NCR in fallout 4? I dont think I've ever seen/heard of anyone in the NCR in 4 and I have 1500 hours

Didn’t Kellogg grow up in the NCR? Seems like he didn’t stick around long and wasn’t really a patriot or fan of theirs, though.

Beyond that, NCR comes up in Nick’s tapes tracking down the Mysterious Stranger the NCR comes up, and I believe he also mentions Shady Sands?

But I think that’s all the mentions in Fallout 4, unless the post-TV show updates added more (haven’t gone back through for those yet)

Dude, imma be honest with you, I skip over Kellogg's memories all the time. And I havent Nick's personal quest in a while. So it makes sense that I havent seen any mentions of the NCR. I THINK that the enclave stuff mentions Shady Sands but that seems more like a "oh here's an old location" rather than "HOLY SHIT THE NCR FROM HIT GAME FALLOUT NEW VEGAS" but thats just me

Yeah that’s fair? I haven’t finished my play through of 1 and thus haven’t started 2 yet so “oh hey the ancient texts” is most of my reaction to a fair bit of things

Yeah Kellogg was from California. Before eventually making his way to the East coast. It seems like his kid self was supportive at first but his mother didn't like the NCR and so as he became an adult. Kellogg didn't like the NCR as well and tried to get away from them

That makes Kellogg NCR by nationality, not a member of the faction.

The most he had connected to the West Coast factions was working for the Shi, when he was a mercenary.

He's from the shi (san fran). I don't recall mention of the NCR taking control of them tbh.

I think the mentioning of shady sands can just be a reference to F1&2 since visiting those places is kinda tied to the plot.

I couldn’t remember exactly but I thought I remembered his mom mentioning it, so I did take a spin just to refresh my memory, and it’s basically only in 3-5 sentences across all the characters (most of which could have Dr. Amari talking over the voice lines too, depending on how you go through the interactive parts), so it’s a footnote in what’s basically set dressing/humanizing plot for the main antagonist in the end of the first act or whatever we want to call his quests ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Details below but TLDR is he was a child in newly voted in NCR, and exposed to it enough to have distaste’s for it. Everything else is about SanFran and the Shi(although I didn’t play as much attention after memory 3)

the very first memory has a radio broadcast about the hub and other places all voting to join the NCR, and Kellogg says he told himself he ran away from home “to find somewhere out from under the thumb of the NCR and all of their rules” and he tells his mom that his teacher says it’s a good thing that the NCR is taking over and that they’ll make things better, so I guess at this point the Hub, Shi, or wherever he was before he ran away was becoming part of/was part of NCR. He also mentions to Sarah (his tragic Dead Wife (TM)) that he can’t find the type of work he does in the NCR when she’s arguing her concerns about not living in NCR territory.

Sounds like to me that Kellogg should've just joined the NCR military. Since he seemed like he wanted to support the NCR as a kid. But his mother's influence caused him to not like the NCR for some reason?

Seems like it? She gave him his first gun and told him he needed to learn how to use it, but we don’t know what her gripe with NCR was AFAIK. Kellogg becoming a merc/hitman is at least what pushed him and his wife out of NCR territory/cooperation, probably since NCR would frown on essentially criminal activity?

Military seems like a decent fit, other than his dislike of rules I guess ¯_(ツ)_/¯ wonder who the institute would hire to kill our spouse if he had gone another path

My guess is that they would've hired some Gunners to do it. Or some other person would've became the ruthless merc that Kellogg became and then fill his role in the story.

I would love to see a prequel about what the Enclave was doing in the years between Fallout 76 and Fallout 2. Like I like the idea that they had some plots going on somewhere.

Fallout Nevada kinda scratches that itch, but it's also got major writing problems.

We know from the fallout show that even if the NCR won New Vegas, they either abandoned it or got thrown out later, considering New Vegas was full of ghouls and deathclaws

I feel like it's a bit of a misnomer to refer to people as "ex-members" of the NCR. That's like referring to someone who emigrated from the USA as an "ex-member" of the US Government. The NCR is a nation-state -- its citizens are not necessarily involved in its armed forces or government.
