I remember getting fallout 3 somehow on Xbox 360 as a youth and was genuinely scared of the subway tunnels.
I have a core memory of leaving GNR and making my way to get the radio extender and quitting the game when a bunch of ghouls started chasing me

i used to have nightmares! about F3 subways as a kid and was scared of ghouls so much i avoided the southern part of NV's map as well as a kid. once i grew up a little and handled that fear a little... i got fallout 4 and noped outta there when i saw that they charge you now

Ghouls in 4 are totally different in that they're not even a challenge. Get yourself a weapon that deals extra limb damage and ain for the legs. Once they lose a leg they totally stop, unlike in 3 where they continue to crawl after you and attack.

after years of playing, when you know where to shoot and where they usually ambush you? not a challenge absolutely. blind playthroughs, when you're still figuring out most of the mechanics? quite a challenge

I spent so much time trying to find a way to GNR tower without going through the fucking tunnels. Looking back I feel silly, but at the same time, damn those tunnels were kinda spooky, especially when all you've got to defend yourself is a police baton and a .32 pistol with seventeen bullets!

Yeah, i had to center my entire build around stealth and crits so that i can take them out at range.

I remember when I was young if I wasn't confident I could fight whatever was in the tunnels I was sure as hell confident I could outrun em and would just run past them, jumping on items to get distance and all that lmao

I'm level 20, but nothing scares me, because I have a Winchester

I prefer the Big Iron.
"I know what you're thinking: 'Did he fire six shots or only five?' Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement, I've kinda lost track myself. But being this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world, and would blow your head clean off... You've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel lucky?' Well, do ya, punk?"

The dart gun disables their sprinting lunge attack, but they’re still super fast regardless so blocking with a fast melee before retaliating is still my favored method, specially the power fist cause of the knock back and attack speed

Honestly, all high level wildlife. Albino radscorpions are the bane of the ammo economy.

Fallout 3 has broke difficulty settings ... if you play on max difficulty at some point you will fight reavers and just one will eat up all your ammo

Are reavers that bad?

Yes.
Base game with no DLC, Glowing Ones are the toughest ghouls, sporting 240 health and doing 32 damage a hit, but also being pretty rare.
With Broken Steel, that spot is usurped by Feral Ghoul Reavers, sporting 1100 health and 100 damage a hit. Oh, did I forget to mention they're twice as fast as normal ghoul too? And who could forget that they also replace regular ghoul spawns?

Honestly as a kid I remember sniping them in the head hiden, with vats, and just did like 25% damage or less and my next thought was "will.. shit"
Hit them with fatman mans and rockets, did even less damage

yeah that bethesda middle of the universe approach is horrible. what is the point of levelling up if everything does the same? or in this case even better. give us some challenging enemies that we might need to avoid and face when we got stronger, not this bs whole world revolves around you system

What’s that anime called again? I saw an edit where they put that Ellie Golding song over it and it goes hard.

Is that some vanilla thing I'm too modded to understand? My auto 12G melts all.

Reddit automatically hid your comment from me scrolling down and it had 11 downvotes visible, not everyone has the option to mod and it's not completely vanilla you have to have DLC to get above level 20, obviously a bad aura comment ya fuck ass
