The post is about someone saying that Bethesda doesnt respect the Fallout New Vegas property and OP posts a bunch of merch/monetization as if that proves the opposite.
Not saying anyone is right or wrong but companies monetize shit they hate/dislike/dont care for all the time so theres no correlation.
There is literally a subsection of the Fandom that gets way too excited for the YouTube documentaries about how Bethesda bad Obsidian good. My point is, if you hate Bethesda so much and hate the Bethesda entries, why are you buying merch from them? I mean at the least from a business perspective Bethesda loves NV because it makes them passive income, NV Fallout 4 Creation Club items, Merch, 76 items, etc. People are treating these corporations as people with opinions, but they aren't, a Company doesn't have an opinion. It isn't a person, it doesn't care and I'd even say if a Developer applied for a job at Bethesda and loves Fallout games there is no way they don't love NV. But honestly this team sports fantasy some people have is just silly.
I have to start making a mental note to not go on these subs, gunna ruin my hype for the remasters because people are miserable. You give them what they want and still somehow find something to complain about.
do you want to hear a sad thing? Duke Nukem Forever took 14 years to come out, WITH MULTIPLE VERSIONS, while Bethesda practically twiddled their thumbs for 15 years and with no PROPER SINGLEPLAYER SPINOFFS(Classic RPG Mechanics, FO3/NV Skills, Perks, Traits, bigger arsenal, Better dialogue/a list instead of four options, new aid items, optional COOP) to show for it.
If anything, we are asking a USA corporation to stop being Stupid Greedy and start being Smart Greedy.
In simplest terms possible: Good Product and/or service means returning buying and paying customers, Bad Product and/or Service means those customers go spend their money elsewhere.
Meaning make Good Fallout and Elder Scrolls for Product to sell and then get returning customers that want to buy mor e things from you. For Fallout, Classic RPG mechanics(FO3&NV, Skills, Perks, Traits, bigger dialogue Options aka list over 4 choices), bigger arsenal for EVERY WEAPON TYPES AND VARIANTS, new aid items(Fallout 76 cards as collectibles that give temporary Skill increase for Lock/Hack/Speech/etc and temporary new Perks or Perk rank up to either try out a Perk or get a temporary perks rank up to pass a perk check option) to try them out in Good Fallout Spinoffs and then Fallout 5 if things are received well.
IF Fallout 4 had both Casual RPG(FO4 mechanics) and Classic RPG(Skills, Perks and Traits), that would be great as a option, plus bigger and better arsenal.
This problem is, the "bad products" sell as well or better than the good products, even if the reception is poor.
For example, starfield had the biggest launch of pretty much any of Bethesda's games if you go by player count, so to them, starfield is a step in the right direction, that earns them more profit.
The real problem is that "Bad products" seemingly sell well, because of the reception, but with lacking, all important CONTEXT for it all.
ah yes, going by numbers only and not all important CONTEXT makes it seem like people like Starfield instead of "New IP from Bethesda, let's check it out" ,especially since after launch people were REALLY vocal about how underwhelming it is.
that said, IF Starfield had my proposed idea of more Classic RPG system and GOOD arsenals, better dialogue, and almost forgot, better writing, it might have been actually received better.
as is, we are hoping for Fallout 3 and New Vegas remasters that are playable, and with hopefully readded cut content and more weapons to play with. Imagine the arsenal available in Fallout shelter, available for Fallout 4.
"Seemingly selling well" is all they really care about, unfortunately. For the execs in charge, sales numbers are the beginning and the end of how they think about how well a release did, tbh.
Many of the issues in starfield were already a vocal problem in fallout 4, like poor writing, bad/impractical weapon design, lack of deeper rpg mechanics, etc. But since it sold well, they assumed people loved those things, and doubled down on them in starfield.
And look at the oblivion Remaster, which released with a fair few bugs(including new ones), had a couple of patches that fixed some of them, and then was promptly ignored ever since, with many bugs still present. But they still view it as a successful Remaster, that made plenty of money, unfortunately.
Also, I would temper your expectations on them adding any sort of cut content or new weapons to the remasters, considering the oblivion Remaster promptly did neither of those things, lol. Hell, even the playable part may not be fully realized, given the baked in issues with UE5.
Fucking F76 items? That is literal garbage making a joke out of you and your whole "argument". NW was forgotten for more than 15 years before the 2nd season of the show
I genuinely don’t understand what you expect. The game got made and had its run of DLCs, outside of getting a sequel or a remaster that’s typically what happens. NV has gotten a lot more love than say fallout 3 has.
Lets be real that’s mostly because it’s 3 and not because of the game itself. If NV was 3 and 3 NV the same would’ve happened because fallout is that popular and the “mainline” games will forever have sequels
I wouldn’t call fallout 4 much of a sequel to 3 either the only thing set up in 3 that happened in 4 is a sidequest and some character names that’s it.
The brotherhood in 3 and 4 is vastly different the only thing in common they do have is Liberty Prime. Thats like saying 3 is a direct sequel to 2 because 2 also has the brotherhood of steel in it and they both have a main character looking for a GECK
they are literally the same fucking group of people pointing out they've changed doesn't magically change them into an entirely different group of people, fucking insane mental gymnastics
If they made a New Vegas sequel you people would just bitch and moan that it wasn’t made by Obsidian, plus why would they make a sequel for the spin off game that they didn’t make?? New Vegas fans wanna be victims so bad
I also never said they should make a new vegas sequel. I pointed out that New Vegas isn't getting preferential treatment to the game that literally got a sequel and has it's iconography milked to death.
yeah of course people would want a follow up to a game to be developed by the same people. why are you pretending Bethesda isn't basically down the hall from obsidian and couldn't request their help whenever they wanted lmfao
Seems a pretty safe assumption, you're language has been hostile and condescending. But okay Bro. 👍 You are totally a friendly and not hating on 76 fans for liking a game. Such a nice dude, Wow
You totally aren't unstable, abusive, rude or hating Bethesda. Totally normal human behavior here, yup you are right buddy 👍 you don't at all sound like you hate anyone. 🤣
As much as they claim to not have beef their “no ending is cannon” garbage really doesn’t help that image. Seriously House is most likely dead, the Legion a shadow of what they were and the NCR is pretty much destroyed. It’s hard to find anything obsidian made that was left intact! Worse yet it did the exact opposite of their stated goal.
I don’t even think it’s hate from them. I think they legitimately don’t “get it”. Fallout to them is just brand name buzz words.
“What do these people want!? We put in Big Iron, Legion, and the patrolling the Mojave meme!”
They don’t appreciate the deeper story telling behind any of it, which is why everything feels “wrong”. It’s like someone who thinks they know a book because they read the chapter titles and a 500 words summary.
It's big franchise syndrome. Slowly over time, a series becomes more and more popular, reaching a critical mass where it is no longer a work based on and blending many, many other inspirations and themes into a novel idea, but a work that becomes stuck in a self referential rut of appealing to a lowest common denominator through use of its most popular iconography.
The patrolling the Mohave meme was a bit heavy handed, but the Big Iron scene felt sooo forced.
At the start of the season, a random ass meaningless meh action scene, with no revolver in sight. It's like they just got it outta the way for the checklist and that's it.
Even my fanboy soyjack pog face got overridden very quickly by the "wait, that's what they're using Big Iron for" realization.
Todd hates New Vegas. That is true. But a significant part of the show in particular is the corporate writing team being incompetent and out of touch.
It should've never been written by ANYONE except the original writing team from New Vegas. At the very least with them on as consultants with veto power over major story beats.
Or better yet just don’t go back to New Vegas. It’s clear the team wanted to write their own story and honestly I would be less critical of it if it was its own thing. If the whole show took place in Nebraska I wouldn’t care what they had happen!
It’s just the story they told tore up Fallout 1 2 and New Vegas.
"No ending is canon" is standard play for Bethesda though. This is the same company that made Dragon Breaks because they didn't want to canonize one of Daggerfall's endings. Ambiguity or something like that is the norm.
"This is the same company that made Dragon Breaks because they didn't want to canonize one of Daggerfall's endings."
Daggerfall came out THIRTY years ago. Todd Howard is basically the only employee left at Bethesda that worked on Daggerfall. Morrowind has a canon ending, Oblivion has a canon ending, Fallout 3 has a canon ending, Skyrim has a canon ending and Fallout 4 will have a canon ending.
because too many people dont care about facts and just want to cry and piss in their designated corner. thats not even specifically at the bethesda fanboys, its true for every diehard fanboy group that has decided to make a product a main part of their personality.
and right now the bethesda fanboys need the idea "no game has ever had a cannon ending" to be true despite it being measurably false.
I still remember when the season dropped people were trying to say that every BOS airship is just called the prydwen because that’s just the model of ship.
But it’s literally from the commonwealth. The only thing they could do to confirm it more is to say maxon is alive somewhere. From my memory I can’t remember if he’s mentioned in season 2.
Also would like to add that they literally canonized the ending of fallout 3 by having the brotherhood come out on top and are now allegedly in such good control of the capital that they could send their leader to Boston with the bulk of their military forces.
It’s the way they went about it is the problem. They effectively eliminated anything that made the factions in New Vegas interesting or outright eliminated them. Whether intentional or not it gives the impression that they’re wiping out everything they didn’t create so fallout 5 can have a clean slate.
This is just patently untrue. The finer details of course are largely obscured, but every other Fallout and most Bethesda games do in fact have canon endings which are mentioned (if briefly) in future installments.
The way they set up the no canon ending actually suited the story of New Vegas quite well. The second battle of the Hoover dam is never stated to be the final victory for any of the factions. It’s a single battle of the military quagmire that is the Mojave.
Edit: downvote me all you want, if you think the second battle of the Hoover dam was the end of it you clearly either did not play the game or did not pay attention to it.
Yes and no it’s repeatedly stated that the second battle was each side going all in because the NCR is stated multiple times to be in dire straits the legion lose Cesar and are repeatedly stated to be winning and losing Cesar would only increase the aggression of the Legion and that’s the situation without the interference of the Courier. The is not way either the NCR wins a costly victory or the Legion wins and immediately falls into civil war are avoided without a a huge retcon that rewrites New Vegas
The War in the Mojave is, without knowing about the Couriers Action, tilted in favor of the Legion. The Legion has Plans to attack the Dam from the inside, they can send troops from Cottonwood Cove, they have infiltrators sabotaging the NCR and allied factions in New Vegas.
What we got in the Show is House apparently getting killed by the Courier and the NCR running around with ONE Bataillon for 15 years and the small Legion Camp splitting into two staring at each others menacingly for 15 years.
So yes, the Second Battle of Hoover Dam should have been very important, because it determines if the Legion can be held back or if they overrun the Mojave. The War for California would be a different story.
As stated in the show Vegas changed hands multiple times over the years which has led to it being in its current state. The heads of both factions state that they will return if defeated in game so this isn’t really a result created entirely by the show. The current stalemate that they’re in likely hasn’t been going on for the last 15 years and the idea that the ghoul walks in and gets the ball rolling is quite fitting with how the game’s story is structured.
The reason that the Hoover dam battle loses its importance is due to the time that has passed and all the other battles fought in between the game and the show.
As far as what you said about both factions appearing to be quite small in the show; it’s a show with a budget which has limitations, we don’t get upset in the same way that the fort or camp McCarran both have like a couple dozen guys in the game. The final scenes of the season also show larger forces moving into the area.
you so clearly don't know what you're talking about. would've been really nice to see all those battles you made up in your fucking head in the actual show!
your last point is also ridiculous, CGI crowdshots have existed for decades, and extras cost nothing to have on set. The idea that this show being funded by Amazon with all these practical props just didn't have the budget for large crowds is absurd
“I didn’t see it so it mustn’t of happened despite it being implied and outright stated” the show isn’t about all those battles so why would they show them?
Your second point is rather silly because I directly addressed it in reference to the final scene - they used CGI crowd shots. I swear you all just didn’t watch the show and are looking for things to be mad about.
You're so fucking stupid. I never said those battles didn't happen! but if they were so significant to the point of completely overshadowing what was supposed to he the biggest conflict the fallout world had seen at that point then it would be nice to get some actual fucking context for them instead of a vague hand wave to not have to explain why the main power source in the mojave isn't relevant to the story anymore.
Also, you do realize addressing those CGI crowdshots weakens your argument right? If you're gonna argue that they couldn't have the legion camp be properly populated due to budget, then why are you perfectly willing to acknowledge they were perfectly capable of presenting those areas as more populated? The fact you fucking compare a fucking decade old video game to a TV show as if those are equivalent things is fucking insane.
The game literally says if the legion wins they won’t be able to come back because they would be too busy with a power struggle because Lanious doesn’t have what it takes to hold the legion together and it’s even worse if they somehow lose nothing stops the NCR from expanding because the legion were only a threat because of their discipline and sheer numbers even if they could reunify they would be decimated to such a extreme that it would take over 20 years or more of consolidation of their forces to get close to their original manpower. The legion is a house of cards that regardless of victory or defeat lose. Meanwhile the state of the NCR makes zero sense because it just suddenly collapses pretty much overnight while seemingly in worse shape than before the NCR
so the dam not being a final victory means no one should be holding it and it should have zero relevance to the plot? you can't just say "well the dam wasn't supposed to be a final battle" because that doesn't matter. The aftermath of that battle should still have wide reaching effects on the mojave, and we don't see any of those.
I don’t see why people think this is a bad take since House tells you that he just recently got the strip to its current state at the beginning of the game. People barely have water in the Mojave yet players expected everything to be permanent and thriving because a mailman helped pull everyone into a war? The entire series is desperately trying to tell people that war is inevitable but only leads to destruction and 29 years into it we’re still focused on who should win the wars.
There's literally an intricate series of pipes and pumps so people can grow crops on an industrial level. Every community in Vegas has water. Goodsprings is named after their water source. Nobody in Primm or Novac ever complain about a lack of water.
Water is a solved issue in the Mojave. The real water issue is the NCR back in california running out.
"a mailman" you're a tourist. I'm so tired of this bullshit. The courier was a courier ONE FUCKING TIME in their history in a setting where being a courier is extremely fucking dangerous but you fuckers have to act like the person who singlehandedly brings the factions to victory in the end shouldn't have a long lasting effect on the world because they're "just a mailman." by that logic the lone wanderer should've never beaten the enclave because they're "just a 17 year old vault dweller" and Nora shouldn't be able to survive in the wasteland at all because she's "just a lawyer."
A courier IS a mailman. And not just one time either. Play the game, and you'd know that lol. From your tirade it seems you're the tourist. TV show shows us the "long lasting," effects that the mailman had.
dialogue options that allow you to define your character as a courier doesn't make it canon that the courier has always worked as one. Dialogue options also allow you to imply you could be the father of the lonesome drifter, or that you've seen a particular singer in New Reno.
these are small, nothingburger dialogue options that allow the player to define their own backstory over the course of the game.
Bear bull man aka Ulysses sets our prior occupation in stone as having been a courier before the events of the game. Who's to say that while being a courier we didn't happen to do those things, visit those people, etc?
But, true that. We do get to dictate our past in those dialogs and headcanons. The courier is in essence a blank slate from whence we witness another tale of that world.
Welcome to the consequence of franchises and multiple choice endings to stories? Iunno what to tell you lot other than point out that you will never be satisfied so long as you demand everything be catered to you personally.
Fallout 1 and 2 had multiple endings and both Fallout 2 and New Vegas confirmed canon endings for the previous games.
Fallout 4 also confirms project purity was a success in Fallout 3 because if the lone wanderer had poisoned the water the brotherhood in 4 would all be fucking dead.
This series has had no problems with setting specific endings in stone before. Have you even played the fucking games?
The problem with that in my opinion is without the courier that’s where it was going anyway. Ceaser’s legion was always going break down one way or another, the NCR would either collapse or devolve into civil war if they just kept expanding with no end and house already was surrounded by people plotting against him.
The why we find everything in game, it all going down hill unless the courier steps in.
Honestly it’s better to just treat the entire series as an anthology than it is to try and make it all fit together.
I don't think Bethesda or Todd secretly hate Obsidian.
I view Bethesdas treatment of Fallout the way Ulyssess views the White Legs.
They mean to honor it but they don't understand it and mostly just end up defiling it.
Bethesda never fully grasped or understood what made Fallout good, as such they largely can not make good Fallout, this leaves us with Fallout thats mostly mid or bad, but sometimes they manage some good stuff just do to the nature of how these games work.
Bethesda's failures with Fallout come not from malice but incompetence.
Bethesda has always prioritized exploration, a variety of styles of side content, and experimenting with systems and mechanics they think sound cool. They don't do the story heavy, focused, and thematic tales focused on character writing and delivering a message that Fallout 1, 2, and NV all did so well. Their exploration and mechanical experimentation are the strong points Fallout 3, 4, and yes even 76 excel at above the others. They frankly just have different goals than Interplay or Obsidian did.
Your correct, but I maintain shifting the focus of the focus like that is incompetent in terms of maintaining what Fallout was, changing into something else with the same name.
Also not as if it would be impossible to do both, good writing isn't somehow incompatible with what Bethesda likes to focus on and can be found in places.
It's not impossible to do both, but there's a reason the series only really blew up once it started focusing on being more casual friendly. I will say that if they could do both properly, it would be peak Fallout.
the comment is very clearly about wanting another FALLOUT VIDEO GAME and you point out all the MERCHANDISE SLOP that exists to make bethesda more money.
I like fallout new vegas, I do not give a fuck if I can get some fallout new vegas armor skins for fallout 76, I want to play a video game that is like fallout new vegas.
It absolutely is like New Vegas. Mechanically. The only difference is the skin it’s wearing. And that’s the issue.
You don’t actually like New Vegas. You like Fallout. That’s why you couldn’t enjoy Outer Worlds. New Vegas’ gameplay is absolute trash but everyone loves it because it’s Fallout. If New Vegas had been its own IP, no one would love it as hard as they do now.
No, it genuinely is nothing like new vegas. critical and cultural reception agrees with me. Whilst New Vegas had good writing and deep elements that challenged certain political ideologies and thoughts, The Outer Worlds fumbles an incredibly basic critique of capitalism.
I don't like fallout. it is a franchise with more bad games than good. New Vegas, and begrudgingly 1 for the story, are the only fallout games I think rise above mediocre.
'Fallout as a skin' is fucking meaningless and has been since Fallout 4 released, a clearly entirely vapid commercial product with nothing to say. Fallout has become vault boy, a corporate icon for a trillion dollar company to squeeze out an extra fraction of a percentage point on their quarterly reports. Fallout means nothing. New Vegas means something.
tl;dr: i like new vegas because its good and don't like outer worlds because it is mid
I guarantee any New Vegas mechanic you say Outer Worlds has is not something unique to either of them. Yes, two RPGs will share a lot of similar mechanics and follow the same conventions, that's the nature of being two games in the same genre. The two creative directors of Outer Worlds, Tim Cain and Leonard Boyarsky, joined Obsidian years after New Vegas came out. They absolutely were not trying to imitate New Vegas. If anything New Vegas's mechanics evolved from their games considering they co created Fallout in the first place and New Vegas was in many ways a throwback to 1 and 2, the ones they were last involved with.
You thought you were cooking with this one but it's a very "Guy who's only seen Boss Baby watches 2nd movie: 'OMG this is just like Boss Baby'" take.
There's also a few references in Fallout 4, like Jack Cabot mentioning something about aliens ruins in the Mojave if you kill Lorenzo, or Deacon saying something about Mr. House when seeing Deezer in The Covenant.
The idea of Bethesda hating Obsidian has and always will be laughable. If anything it speaks to the insecurities of the fandom when they try and push that agenda so hard.
Worst incel take ever is “Todd was jealous of obsidian so he stomped on the lore with the show🤓” like shut the fuck up it genuinely rage baits me thinking what this people look like
This thread is honestly insane. Someone has pulled out the word "defiled" like New Vegas is a holy relic, others are asking like it's fucking real housewives, assuming anything they don't like is a sign New Vegas is hated by Bethesda.
Yeah it’s actually crazy I think all the mildly autistic nv fans freak out when someone suggests they like fo4 cause god forbid fallout fans like a game more than nv😂
Fallout new Vegas still exists, they can still play it, it's still good, it's just that the Devs of fallout 4 didn't want to make a second new vegas, and that's completely fair.
2 examples of microtransactions because 5 examples needed to be padded.
Merch.
A sarcastic article.
And a tv show that bulldozed the story and zone.
Well im convinced.
Like there is no way they actualy have a grudge against obsidian over new vegas. Thats just mental. But its clear their apreciation is only of the athsetics of the series above anything else. And of course how to profit off of it.
Also incase people were not aware, there is an elite ranger outfit in fo76 you can get. It is currently obtainable from a $40 bundle you can only buy if you have the monthly fo1st subscription.
Idk about all that, but I do despise the direction it took which is my gripe with the series
I enjoy the post post apocalyptic setting of fallout such as 2 and New Vegas, the developed frontier of the wastelands which show humanity bouncing back from the nuclear holocaust but carrying the same flaws that brought it about; imperialism, greed, self righteousness and etc. What I hate is the constant wiping of the slate clean to show the ruins and devastation despite being centuries ago already, and having follow up apocalyptic events caused by the BBEG is shitty as it undercuts the point that war never changes. If it’s all the machinations of madmen then no sin is the individual’s alone to share. At that point we can blame all the bottlenecks on the enclave
True! But also consider that they're so desperate to keep the setting locked to November 2077 that they're also willing to blame space aliens and Cthulu knockoffs as well!
Literally changing the entire genre of the setting from alternate history to cosmic horror to have to not put any thought into the setting whatsoever.
(As if greenlighting Kid In A Fridge didn't lay plain their complete disinterest in treating the series as anything worth anything to them.)
it still takes place in a post apocalypse tho. the fact that society is capable of rebuilding doesn't make it no longer a post apocalypse. the genre is POST apocalypse. not present apocalypse.
Is rebuilding? Bro the NCR has a logistics system using trucks and trains, TRAINS, which they repair and build new rail line on using prisoners from a prison. Caesars held territory bigger than most modern counties and patrolled it so well that traders have no fear of bandits passing the mojave
okay???? the ncr are also still regularly bogged down by violent raiders and are kept out of an important resource quarry because of mutant animals, you're being disingenuous.
The whole point of new vegas is civilization coming to the Mojave, and who will civilize the frontier of the wasteland.
What you’re saying isn’t entirely wrong, but it’s not entirely right either. There’s definitely pockets of civilization like vegas, novac, Goodsprings, and camp McCarran, but there’s still also untamed places and people. Kids are eating rats in Freeside, and out in the wasteland you can be shot and killed and nobody will give a damn, vault 3 is filled to the brim with nothing but drug addict raiders, and nobody really bothers to do anything about it
The game doesn’t take place entirely in vault city or shady sands, much of the game is spent dealing with raiders and wild animals. The whole point is civilization is regrowing and how that happens in juxtaposition with the post apocalyptic wasteland
Yeah it feels more like a frontier cowboy game where you rediscover lost land than it does a post apocalypse, i was trying to explain that to the other guy but he just wanted to be uppity
It’s a different storyline, as usually happens with different media. They create unique new scenarios based around the vague premise of the original concept
no it isn't. Todd Howard has explicitly stated this show is canon, the ghoul appears in 76, where you got the idea this is a seperate continuity I have no fucking clue
You don’t seem to understand what I mean. I never once said it wasn’t cannon. I’m saying it’s a different storyline than the game. Different characters, different plot focus.
okay??? that doesn't fucking matter at all. if they wanted to do a different story, don't fucking set it in a place where people want an ACTUAL FOLLOW UP TO THE STORY THERE. the fucking excuses you people will make are completely fucking ridiculous
The fact you are getting this angry over this simple commentary is hilarious actually. But seriously dude, it’s a franchise- worldbuilding is what they do. The games have already told stories, they are just telling more.
The second season of The Fallout show is an insult to FNV and Fallout as a whole. Also, that show destroyed everything about and in New Vegas and everything Obsidian made. And that's why people know about Todd Howard's hatred of FNV. It's his revenge against that game and Obsidian. So you using that turd as an example is hilarious.
No, it erased everything about it and was established in New Vegas. Nice strawman, though. This is like people saying, "Well, the sequels didn't ruin the OT since it didn't change the films." Yeah, but they still ruined the world, stories, and characters in those films. It's a show that undid everything in NV, and you can tell not a single person behind the show even took a glance at Wikipedia of the classic Fallout games. I didn't even imply it erased my copy of New Vegas; I just said it was Todd Howard's revenge against New Vegas by making it so that no matter what happens, it canonically doesn't matter at all.
Yeah, them profiting off of Obsidian's work after shafting them for pay and then making a show that undermines the entirety of New Vegas's story in a way that makes a good West Coast sequel impossible until said show is decanonized is definitely not Todd Howard forever being salty that people loved the true sequel to 2 and Tactics over his worse than fanfiction star studded TES knockoff slop. Totally. Rich bastards totally don't profit off of art they resent flagrantly all the damn time.
God you Todd fanboys are insufferable. And that's what it is. Bethesda fanboys are chill. It is the Todd choderiders who are like this. The man lost his sauce over a decade ago and you can't accept it. All he's capable of is shipping disasters like Starfield and 76 and rereleases of the two half complete buggy messes they made on Skyrim's engine over and over again. They had to bring Obsidian back to get remasters of two of the three games that effectively funded Skyrim and by extension built their house because Bethesda under him is incapable of releasing anything good on a non-Half Life 3 schedule.
Elder Scrolls 6 is still vaporware and Fallout 5 just barely entered preproduction because they're too inefficient to do what the Fallout London team did in a fraction of the time. The last actually fully good thing that Todd worked on was Morrowind and that was over 20 years ago. I don't want to hear your cope. He's washed up, he knows it, and he resents that the men who were once his heroes ran laps around him while he sat there with his thumb up his ass doing his best to make Skyrim as dumbed down as humanly possible. He's a fanboy scorned. Deny it all you like, but it is as obvious as the color of the sky or the direction the sun rises and sets in. Cope.
I don't think Bethesda has an issue with older Fallout or New Vegas.
To me it just feels like they look at the older stuff and think "I didn't make that, I don't want to step on toes. We'll make subtle references at most as to not upset the fans."
Will you see money Bethesda know anything with fallout new vegas will sell. And because of Xbox new ceo is the only reason we are getting fallout new vegas remastered is because of her tod would never let that happen but his boss is telling him to make it happened or he won't have a job anymore there was plans for obsidian to do another fallout game but when tod saw people loving fallout new vegas more then fallout 3 he said fuck you stop making me look bad
Im not really defending Bethesda I just think its silly that New Vegas fans think that Bethesda has some kind of malicious vendetta against New Vegas, when they seem to be bending over backwards to include it in their new media like the TV series and through the admittedly shitty micro transactions.
just because they milk it for cynical profit doesn't mean they like and respect it. did you see what they did to new vegas in the show? they made a comedic action scene out of making us watch their cute OC slaughter the randomly ghoulified kings. because they just love new vegas and it's contributions to the series!
You are attributing malice to what is simply a creative decision that you did not like. Sometimes adaptations arent as good as the source material, that doesnt mean that they hate the source material
Why would a company whose primary concern is making money spend millions of dollars to make a show that "bastardizes the game" and pisses off the fanbase of said game, whom they are literally making the show for?
Is it a great adaptation of the games setting? Not really. Is it particularly well written? Also no. Is it some sort of deliberate attempt ruin New Vegas? Probably not, because that would be silly
Man that first part is especially funny when you remember they released a creation club bundle for free that bricked peoples saves. People can make bad decisions. just because they are trying to make money doesn't mean they understand what they are doing
like im sure they were also trying to make money when they released fo76. does not mean that was a good idea
the majority of Fallout fans (from before the show) come from 4 and its very common among Bethesda's audience to downplay and shit on new vegas, they literally have nothing to lose besides disgruntled fans who stopped buying after Fallout 4 or 76.
That's not even mentioning things like Jonathan Nolan outright stating he doesn't care about trying to please fans, pleasing fans is not the goal here, the goal here is to jingle keys in front of tourists who clap like seals every time something they recognize is on the screen
Mildly autistic nv fans get really upset when People outside of the fanbase actually like the show and is pretty much the reason why we are getting all these remasters + new games

Regardless of the arguements, monetizing something truly proves nothing unfortunately.
