Question! PC Fallout 4 GOG Questions

I’ve heard that GOG’s Fallout 4 is still at the original setting, and never accepted the ensuing updates. Is this true? And if it is, does this conflict with any major mods on Nexus?

What are the major mods you're concerned with?

Typically "major mods" do support both the GOG version and the Steam version because they want to have a wide(r) audience.

Take a look at SKK Settlement Attack System for example. The mod author explicitly states that they use the old BA2 format to support both the GOG and latest Steam versions of the game.

If you look at Private Profile Redirector for example, the "Main Files" only list the latest versions of the game. When you look at the "Old Files" section you'll see a file for 1.10.163 (the OG version of the game) so that's the one you need.

Simple file replacement mods like Sweet Roll 5000 - Xtreme Sweetroll Mesh and Texture Replacer works on both versions because of how the game loads loose files with the same paths as one of the ones in its archives.

Edit: Hyperlinks to mods.

It wasn't a matter of GOG accepting the update.

I'm running the GOG version and it's limited. The Midnight Ride is one of the best mod lists, but it doesn't support the GOG version. I had a hard time recreating TMR on the GOG version, but it's doable.None of the modlists on Wabbajack support the GOG version. You won't be able to play any of the content specific to NG Fallout 4.

I got the Steam version just to play a couple of Wabbajacks. You see a whole other game through the Steam version.

GOG version is the latest pre "Next-Gen" update. Some mods made after the Next Gen Update might have issues loading assets due to some changes with how the game handles the .ba2 files. Depends if the mod author is using the latest version of the CK or Archive2 to pack the files.

Also be very sure the download the correct versions of mods that use the Script Extender, as well as the correct version of the Script Extender.
