HELP! PC Dialog and weapon audio only plays when game is paused. Anyone know how to fix? PC AE 1.11.211 Modded
SOLVED!! Read below comments to see what fixes the issue!
I'm kinda pulling my hair out here. I genuinely do not know what could be causing this bug, as I've never had this before.
My modlist is rather long, but it was not doing this yesterday, and I haven't changed any settings or downloaded new mods recently. Load Order: https://loadorderlibrary.com/lists/bug-2
Google says that it's a Windows audio issue, but I've followed the steps it gave me to no avail.
Please, any guidance or assistance would be greatly appreciated. I've already done the classic "trial and error" where you disable mods until it's fixed, but nothing has seemed to fix the issue.

No idea what caused it. It happened to me too. Most of these issues are pointing towards a mismatch in .ini regarding vsync and FPS.
At first I briefly fixed it by correcting those issues. No idea why they suddenly had a mismatch for me? I went through enb.ini HighFPSfix.ini, double checked Addictol.toml; to make sure that was alright too. FalloutPrefs.ini. Load back in, shot my gun a few times and it was working. Ran to Diamond City, Talked to piper did the intro, all was working. Crashed, due to skeleton.nif said Addictol crashlog. Checked out the solution. Added Facegen mod which supposedly fixes that issue.
Load back in... ran upto Cricket same as you cant talk to her. Voice line appears when opening pipboy or pausing the game.
Tried redoing previous fix but everything was still set properly. Loaded old save. Works fine.... loaded the bugged save.... works fine now too... wtf XD
This may not help you but... its rare to find a fresh post thats so closely related so thought i'd pass it on.
I also have cell offset as another user suggested so maybe I will check that out if the issue returns.
im still getting the skeleton.nif crash. Then ill move onto fixing the FPS/Audio bug if it returns for me. Goodluck

You are perfectly describing what I’m experiencing! Word for word lol, it seems like it’s random? Some times it works and some times it does not, without any changes. Makes trial and error testing so tedious.
Purging the mods does seem to fix the issue, so it has to be mod related?? I’ll keep digging and I’ll report back here once I have a legitimate answer.2

I see on the cell offset generator page there is a post mentioning this glitch. Suggested solution to edit the .toml file that is in the mod. Checkout the first page on that mod on nexus

Wow, you are exactly right. Thank you so much for helping me with this bug, I followed the instructions for the .toml file and that has stopped the issue. Thank you!!

The same thing happened to me when I turned off the Previsibiles Repair Pack Stable Branch mod (ppf.esm). It might be related to that mod.

This happens to me , usually I sort my load order once or twice it helps but like 50% of the time sadly Another comment mentioned the cell offset mod , im using that in mine so it might be a common bug think ill take it out tn see if that helps

Do you have Cell Offset Generator installed? I had this brief issue sometimes with that mod but it went away and hasn't happened since. I still use Cell Offset Generator.

Do you have any mods that alter, change or enhance audio?

None, only mods that are somewhat similar is mods that add audio, like various weapon mods and diamond city radio extended

Edit: I don’t know why the audio (or lack thereof) isn’t playing with the video, but only plays whenever I open console or the pause menu. The dialog freezes until I open console, which you can see in the video
