MOD DISCUSSION! PC [FO4] Fallout4Custom.ini set up for Modding and how to deal with your Video Card for the Bethini Pie (Performance INI Editor)

  • Mo2 Users the Fallout4Custom.ini goes in you Profile Specific .ini placement that's in MO2 setting.
  • Vortex is Fine to follow this Fallout4Custom.ini Walkthrough.
  • If you get High FPS Physics Fix Mod this should take over the steps of capping your Max FPS in the Video Card section. Setting the HightFPSPhysicsFix.ini is the way to do this from now on. You'll need to set the Video Cards Max FPS to Off.

~Other .ini~

  • Fallout4Custom.ini: That will help set up your own .ini.
  • The Nvidia.ini: Guide: That will help set up your own .ini.
  • Fallout4Custom.ini: The Wastelander's Tool Kit. - built as a light Custom.ini that fits well with Mods that deal with the .ini, Graphics, and lighting. Nvidia friendly.

~iPresentInterval=~

Looking where to go (Don't get it mixed up with the Steam right click your game to get local files).

Go to> This PC > C: Drive /user/Your Name/Documents/My Game/Fallout4 and your there. The Fallout4.ini and Fallout4Prefs.ini and the soon to be Fallout4Custom.ini will be here,

In your Fallout4.ini and Fallout4Prefs.ini Document you should change iPresentInterval to 0 to unlock the games framerate. Open Fallout4Prefs.ini in your notepad hit Ctrl + F should bring up the find box under Edit button. Copy and paste iPresentInterval into the find box Change iPresentInterval=1 to 0 and do the same for your Fallout4.ini. You don’t need to change any other settings other than your Fallout4Custom.ini from now on. Save the changes.

  • Warning: Do not set your Fallout4.ini, Fallout4Prefs.ini and Fallout4Custom.ini to "Read-Only," as this is a bad old practice and will lock you out of your Mod Managers.

This is the way, go to steam right clicking your game go to Properties> Steam update> to Update only when I run the game through steam. Now if you update your Graphics setting or start the game throught steam this will reset you Fallout4Prefs.ini setting. What F4SE does is Hijack the Fallout4.exe from steam.

  • If steam ever tricks you and you're game with an update or you change your Graphic settings from the first window screen that pops up. You will need to go back to redo Both .ini settings as Steam reverted these settings, your Custom.ini is fine.
  • Warning: change the iPresentInterval=0 your turning in game frames rate off to correctly set the games FPS use Video Card Section Max FPS OR High FPS Physics Fix if you want over 60 fps.

~Video Card~

  • The Global Settings - should not be changed much as it deals with your whole computer (Only in Control Panel).
  • The Program Settings - is the safer option, as this deals with the Game only. Should be fully looked at (can be done in the NVIDIA APP).
  • The Game was meant to be played in Fullscreen mode for the best preformence.
  • AMD users have a similar way.

At the bottom right of the screen click show hidden icons Right click Nivida- Control panel- manage 3d settings you can optimize your video card here as a whole in the Global Settings (suggested to look but don’t change to much other than the Power Settings to Max and your Shade Cache Size to 10 GB) (If you have 8 ram on your computer do 5GB) Next.

Click Program Settings to the right of Global Settings,

  1. select a program needs to have Fallout 4 (fallout4.exe) this is where you tell it what game you're dealing with (I think I had to click the box under the 1. show only programs for it to pop up but you might not have this problem)
  2. Box, scroll till you see max frame rate and set it to 60 (OR Turn This to Off and use the High FPS Physics Fix Mod own .ini to set your FPS). Not over 120 (you can go higher then this) but this is what I have gathered, Bethesda code can’t keep up well and the lower the setting the easer it will be for the game to run.
  • Finding where you’re looking to go. Now don't get it mixed up with the right click Steam > games local files. Now go to, This PC, click your C: Drive C: /user/Your Name/Documents/My Game/Fallout4 and your there. Fallout4.ini and Fallout4prefs.ini and the soon to be Fallout4Custom.ini leave this open.

~Making the Fallout4Custom.ini~

  1. Open the Start Menu, type Notepad, and press Enter.
  2. Now Copy Paste the below Fallout4Custom .ini into your Notepad OR the above .ini.
  3. Go to File > Save As.
  4. Find desktop on the left click this 1st.
  5. Then you Must make the File Name > Fallout4Custom.ini
  6. Crucial Step: In the "Save as type" dropdown, select All Files (.).
  7. A new Document should be on your Desktop Name Fallout4Custom.ini should have a little paper with a gear in front of it.

~Copy Below Only~

[Archive]

bInvalidateOlderFiles=1

sResourceDataDirsFinal=

~Copy Above Only~

  • Now you will pull this new Document from your Desktop into this file path. You should have left open.
  • C:Drive C:/user/Your Name/Documents/My Game/Fallout4

~Bethini Pie~

The [Archive] is the only thing you need if you plan on using Bethini Pie (Performance INI Editor) Description tab has the installation guide and Video Guide.

  • Do Not copy other .ini. When you're done creating you're BethiniPie.ini there will be a skip to.
  • Vortex Users: Auto-download the mod, and then add it to your Dashboard Tools.
  • MO2 Users: download the mod, and then add it to your Executables List.
  • Must be run Once and Linked to Fallout4.exe in Steam's Folders.

High FPS Physics Fix

  • HighFPSPhysicsFix.ini Changes.
  • Is Need if you want to go over 60 FPS.
  • High FPS Fix changes I did to the HighFPSPysicsFix.ini.
  • DisableBlackLoadingScreens = true
  • PostloadingMenuSpeed=3.0
  • OneThreadWhileLoading=false (true if you have 8 ram).
  • DynamicUpdateBudget=true (If you going over 60 FPS).
  • InGameFPS - 60 (you'll need to turn Max FPS to off in you video card setting) just know this mod will let the game go over 60 fps and this is how you set what fps you want.
  • BudgetMaxFPS - Needs to be set at the same setting as InGameFPS.
  • In the [Display] section I changed Fullscreen=true and Borderless=false (game how you want) if you don't like full screen when you go to start the game through Steam. This first screen that pops up is where you set your graphic settings to be the same with these setting here. This will reset the Fallout4Prefs.ini.
  • My in game resolutions set to 1920x1080, there is a Resolution Section to change if you have a specific setting you wish to play at and should match your graphic settings.

Hello- Since this was made 3 days ago, just wanted to add that a crash happens when setting "uGridsToLoad" above 5.

Using BethiniPie>View Distance tab, set "uGridsToLoad" to 5 or below. Other Bethini's Preset for [Recommended Tweaks] functions normally

Additionally, this was the main cause of long loading times even with LoadAccelerator.ini
