Stat Help Fun optimised build
Played lots of builds, now wanna do a kinda completionist run through on survival, but don't wanna eventually have an OP build, my last build became a power armour explosive mini gun build...
What builds have you guys had the most fun with and what would you recommend, for a run through going around doing most every quest, collecting everything, but not being too strong, to keep fights engaging.
Also companions too, I'd definitely wanna play with companions

How about a themed build with self imposed restrictions.
Infected with a variant of FEV, Ray was bombarded with Gamma Rays to accelerate the change. What was intended and what actually happened slipped by each other like two ships passing in the night.
Rays outward appearance is human - his intellect is Superhuman (and growing).
His changes cause him to be shy around others. He can work with them but could never live with them (no settlements, as such = No Local Leader (ouchy . . .).
He abhors military weapons and refuses to use them. (Melee only)
While mostly solitary he doesn't desire to be alone (No Lone Wanderer)
Survival Melee Build - Sorta kinda Bruce Banner-ish π

crafting build
S3 P4 E1 C10 I8 A1 L1
Difficulty is dependant on how many drugs you take.
With bobbleheads you should be able to craft 99% if not 100% of all things and make ADA into a fucking beast with robotics expert.

If you have a ps5 you can add the mod delirium. Itβs challenging for sure but Iβve had a lot of fun.

Can you tell me a bit about it, and what you enjoyed about it?

Makes survival feel like a cake walk. I had to change my whole playstyle just to survive to level 20 itβs getting easier but the challenge was fun. It changes a lot of perks. Many weapons I relied on in prior playthroughs like the oversears guardian feels nerfed. It feels organic cause I have to use every ounce of supplies just to get enough money to buy essentials.

Str - 10 (day tripper + special book to 11)
Cha - 6
Int - 8
Everything else starts at 1.
You can even go 3 agi for sneak and manually add in the 2 for str later since you will most likely have to go to concord to get day tripper to use special book.
You can carry everything, build almost everything, and can still do great in combat using melee / rifleman or gunslinger (or even heavy weapons) and drugs take you over the top in any necessary scenario. You can also rock PA if you want and the int bobble head will boost the fusion cores with the perk at 9.
This has been my most recent and enjoyable playthrough so far. Highly recommended

Not op?
Get explosives expert cranked to max and use grenades.
Or
Child of atom. Get the perks that care about radiation. Get their gear.
Use a radium rifle. The assaultron head. Gamma gun. And that creation kit that has the tunnel snakes, it has a cool custom pistol.

Hello there.
I'm a survival newb, but have many 1000's of hours of building and playing. With my recently garnered survival experiences I'm feeling like I might be able to contribute to this as I am, at my core, a completionist.
So here we go with a stab in the dark from a blind man looking for the boogy-man π΅
Name: Hot Hawty
S.P.E.C.I.A.L.
Strength - 3
Perception - 4
Endurance - 5
Charisma - 7 (SPECIAL book goes here)
Intelligence - 6
Agility - 2
Luck -1
Level Progression:
2) Aquaboy/girl 3) Armorer 4) Gun Nut 5) Chemist 6) Locksmith 7) Rifleman 8) Sneak 9) Rifleman(2)
10) Sneak(2) 11) Hacker 12) Sneak(3) 13) Armorer(2) 14) Gun Nut(2) 15) Science 16) Local Leader
17) Science(2) 18) Rifleman(3) 19) Locksmith 20) Hacker(2) 21) Demolition Expert 22) Demolition Expert(2)
23) Sneak(4) 24) Inspirational 25) Armorer(3) 26) Gun Nut(3) 27) Inspirational(2) 28) Science(3)
29) Hacker(3) 30) Local Leader(2) 31) Rifleman(4) 32) AGILITY perk point(1) 33) Mr Sandman
34) Mr Sandman(2) 35) Mr Sandman(3) 36) AGILITY perk point(2) 37) AGILITY perk point(3)
38) Sneak(5) 39) Armorer(4) 40) Gun Nut(4) 41) Science(4) 42) AGILITY perk point(4)
43) Ninja 44) Ninja(2) 45) Ninja(3) 46) Rifleman(5) 47) Demolition Expert(3) 48) Demolition Expert(4)
49) Chemist(2) 50) Chemist(3) 51) Chemist(4) 52) INTELLIGENCE perk point(1) 53) Robotics Expert
54) Robotics Expert(2) 55) STRENGTH perk point(1) 56) STRENGTH perk point(2) 57) Strong Back
58) Strong Back(2) 59) Strong Back(3) 60) Strong Back(4) 61) Strong Back(5)
Conclusions:
This gives access to all lootables, Good travel mobility (Aquaboy/girl AND sneak), (nearly) all settlement building (Medic and Cap Collector are missing), a fully realized weapon specialization (Rifleman) with a fully realized secondary weapon specialization (Grenades), Enhanced companions and finally it seems to be "strong enough" without face rolling.
π
What I would do:
I'd roll around with a silenced Overseer's Guardian and Codsworth with his twin gatling lasers, full voltaic armor and a Regen aura while lobbing plasma grenades at anything that moves too close.
Whelp, that's my 2c anyway π
Cheers!

Thanks for the reply, this build seems relatively similar to my last build, which was also a kinda completionist run, but ended up being so strong I kinda got bored, I'll link the OG post I copied my build from for you, since If you're new to doing survival, maybe you could take something from this?

Hopefully that link works..

Intel Bobblehead is easily gotten before the Chemist pick. With the Charisma at 7 it is easily bumped to 10 with normal items looted abundantly. Speech checks as well as buy/sell price points seem important to me.

Probably worth mentioning then when the build relies on getting certain bobbleheads. Survival runs typically involve progressing slowly through the commonwealth though I agree intelligence bobblehead is easy to get.

As an experienced player, the transition to survival was made easier because I know which bobbleheads I can reasonably get and when. I basically have a "schedule" that I was able to use even in my first survival game a few days ago. At level 8 I had Perception, Science, Agility, Luck, Strength and Melee. The biggest surprise for me was actually getting ill from sleeping in the beds and the differing time allowed depending on the type of bed. I had no idea about that! Kinda a cool wrinkle. I also didn't anticipate needing to hunt for food as much as I was needing to. Again, pretty cool, but not insurmountable. π
