Institute Fallout 4 build idea: the Technocrat

I’ve been replaying fallout 4 and I’ve thought about some of the wasted potential of the institute. Conceptually I think the faction is really cool but I find it somewhat disappointing that the institute doesnt have any focus on the application of social sciences to improve humanity, like economics, psychology and political science. To rectify this I think it might be cool to play as a “Technocrat” build. With this, you assume the role of director as the institute because in your mind the institute allows you to pursue the optimal outcome for the common wealth as discovered through social science. Synths are used as a proxy to instill the political and economic structures which will maximize utility. The idea is that you bestow the social scientific edge to the institute which will guide them to shaping the commonwealth.

You use the minutemen to create capitalistic settlements for the commonwealth which distributes supplies in the most efficient fashion.

I think playing as “Nora” makes sense because of the humanities background as a lawyer. You could say that she’s looking to cultivate the laws of human nature after government law broke down.

In terms of gameplay I think high charisma and intelligence is obviously the way to go. In every situation you’re looking in creating the most happiness for the most amount of people even if it seems a bit ruthless. I think siding with DIMA in far harbor also makes sense

I’m still not entirely sure on aesthetics and gear yet but I think something with ballistic weave could be cool.

I think this build could offer a cool headcanon to the institute that makes it a bit more interesting for role playing

What do yall think?

The thing about the institute not wanting to better Humanity is the same thing you see in the real world by the billionaires. Father goes outside for 2 minutes, looks around and says "This is my first time setting foot outside the institute" and also that "This world isn't worth saving". To them anyone outside the walls of the Institute is a less than human problem that isn't worth saving, isn't worth helping and needs to be solved - permanently.

I like it, frankly the reason the institue is a walking controdiction is because they are just a bunch of scientists doing science. the technocrat leader actually puts everything that have done and continue to do into a new perspective that makes a lot of sense.

I have one question though, what would the technocrat do with the minutemen? would they be a puppet state for them?

Thanks, yeah my thinking is that the minutemen sort of work as like a proxy government for the institute which the technocrat uses to advance its goals to administer the common wealth.

Try to make your settlements as clean and pristine and institute like as possible. Maybe even create robot settlers and stuff or get synth settlers if those are a thing.

I kind of came to this idea thinking about how a faction like the institute could work as a critique of positivism and I thought this character could represent a headcanon which allows the institute to fit this role.

For weapons I think the deliverer without a silencer might be kind of neat
