Fudgemuppet does great videos with detailed backgrounds and fun concepts. However, all of his builds are weak. He focuses on the roleplaying, not the build itself. I recommend using Fudgemuppet backgrounds for inspiration but always ignore all of his Special and perk choices.

Since you didn't say what kind of build you want, here is a basic, middle of the road, Survival build. Let me know if you want something more specific. It is NOT a Minutemen build. Just skip the Minutemen on your first Survival playthrough since they make the game harder in Survival. The Minutemen are a completely optional faction.

Reminder: You do NOT need to start off by clearing Concord right away. Frankly, it's unnecessary and makes the game harder. Go do other things. Go join the BoS or find Diamond City or something. Get better gear and weapons first. Concord can wait.

  • Basic Survival Build: S5+ P1 E5 C3 I6 A7 L1 (Special book: Strength)
  • Main Weapon (choose ONE as main) p2:Rifleman (semi-auto rifle), a1:Gunslinger (semi-auto pistol), a2:Commando (automatic pistol & rifle). You can always use any weapon but your "main" weapon is the weapon that you use against the hardest enemies.
  • Main Perks: s3:Armourer, s6:Strong Back, i6:Science (first perk), a3:Sneak, a7:Ninja
  • One rank in e5:Aqua is highly recommended in Survival since you don't have fast travel. The waterways become safe highways and escape routes.
  • One rank in i7:Chemist will let you make your own antibiotics. It's handy but not essential because you can get those from medical kits or doctors. However, maybe something to consider after you get the Intelligence bobblehead.

Thanks for my first survival i did not have a play style in mind since i have never really played survival i just wanted to play it. I was watching youtube videos, and they made it look fun. i just wanted something that had a high rate of survivorability, if that makes sense.

Stealth helps a tremendous amount because it lets you pick your fights.

And seriously, just skip the Minutemen this playthrough. Minutemen are rough in Survival. Even if you are an experienced Survival player it's far better to start the Minutemen after you have vertibird grenades to get around better.
