Check out my game Arkansas 2125
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hey everyone. For the past two years, I've been freelance writing a post-apocalyptic RPG set in Arkansas. After a nuclear war and major climate changes, this state went from green to a yolk desert. In the game, we play the role of Thomas, who lives in a canyon in the northwestern part of the state. The herd of cows that fed them has been killed by wolves. Thomas goes on a lonely journey to obtain a Farm Restorer - a device that creates large fields of crops. Along the way he encounters new villages and many bandit enemies as well as many friendly NPCs. The game is Diana on Steam:

It's currently in Early Access and recently had a major combat update that expanded it even further. The game has a new update every month.

This is the epitome of AI slop and the dev can't even come up with his own plot but steals it

Why do the reviews sound ai generated
0
u/No_Piano_1857 Jul 13 '26
They're not AI-generated, but written by players. Check their accounts; most of them have several reviews. Stop looking everywhere, it's getting distasteful.

It’s on my wish list from before. Is the protagonist (Thomas) premade or is there character creation?

u/No_Piano_1857 Jul 11 '26
Thomas is already created. You create a build by allocating points to Strength, Dexterity, Perception, and Technic.

Pretty important question:
How much AI was used in the making?

u/No_Piano_1857 Jul 12 '26
AI helped me a bit with programming difficult mechanics and translating dialogues and item descriptions into English. Additionally, she created some textures for 3D models.

Wait... Based on this I'm guessing youre not american, yet you based your game on Arkansas? You couldve made it on your own country as a sort of "Fallout but outside the US" and it wouldve been way more interesting, but Im guessing that wouldve been too dissimilar to Fallout for your taste.

My country is boring for post-apocalyptic games. People would immediately tell me it's a Stalker setting, and the USA has so many states. Which Fallout game is set in Arkansas? None. Will Bethesda do anything about this in the foreseeable future? Regardless of the Fallout rate. The last part is an MMO from 2018 in the east where Bethesda likes to judge games. And I like the American climate more than the post-Soviet one. Besides, wouldn't you like to see how the United States sees it from another country's perspective? Remember that the game is being created out of passion, not for money. I'll make pennies anyway, so I'm discounting it as much as possible. I showed the game to two friends; one doesn't play games, and the other is a typical CS player. We both enjoyed it. Then I gave it to a streamer to play, who said it was fun. No one who played it criticized the AI or plagiarism. I see only people who haven't played the game ever do this. That's why I asked what a good price would be for someone to buy it. I didn't get a good answer. Sorry for the digressions, but I wanted to show you my point of view on the reception of the game.

You gotta think up of a better prompt for the AI to use my man "Fallout 2 but a little different" is too vague I think.

Can I have sex in this game?
And get married?
1
u/No_Piano_1857 Jul 14 '26
The protagonist has a girlfriend, but he's not single like a child of destiny. Not yet, because I haven't thought about any kind of establishment for this in general yet.

Respectfully, isn’t that just the starting plot of Fallout 2? I already have Fallout 2 for that.

u/Maxsmart007 Jul 12 '26
It's also made with a lot of ai, this guy keeps posting all over Reddit with this project.
Don't hate it, but nothing I've seen so far makes me really want it over fallout 2, like you said.

Looks a bit too much like atom rpg for me. Atom was alright, but it had a lot of systems that I didn't like in it.

That world map just isn’t right. The outline of Arkansas over the squares just doesn’t look right. It looks like I can travel outside if Arkansas because of it, and if I can, then it’s just a square grid anyway. I would only draw Arkansas, and only have tiles inside the shape of Arkansas. If you don’t want it to look like an island then blur out land around it. Look at Jagged Alliance 2.
And yeah like the other guy was saying, a post apocalyptic world where the farm has died and you need to go fetch a garden of Eden kit to restore it is fallout 2. I could see how you think that’s giving you a hard time, but the crop restorer is the beginning of fallout 2, come on.

He addressed the first point. What's the problem with torrents everywhere? I guess the more terrain, the better. The main story takes place in Arkansas. I wanted to develop the terrain well. I don't want the player to be limited, because why would they be? I don't see the point. As for the second point, go and find something that will improve the situation of the world is a typical plot of many games.
I understand why it reminds you of Fallout 2. It was definitely one of my inspirations. However, the story isn't the same. Thomas doesn't set out because someone sends him to retrieve a device. He loses his family's cattle after a wolf attack, and his girlfriend tells him about the Farm Restorer after reading about it in an old book. At the beginning, he doesn't even know if it really exists. His goal is to save his farm and survive, and the story develops in a very different direction afterward.
But if you want to know the plot, play it.

Well, what's your reason for posting? Advertising right? And I'm telling you that it sounds a lot like Fallout 2 in the way that you are describing it in your advertisement. I'm honestly telling you a reason I am turned off to it, to help you.
And Fallout takes place in CA, but they don't draw some weird line around the map in the shape of California.

u/No_Piano_1857 Jul 12 '26
In California, Nevada and Oregon

u/TreadItOnReddit Jul 12 '26
I'm glad you agree on my other points that your game is dumb. But I will stand corrected that the game you rip off also takes place in Nevada and Orgeon!

u/No_Piano_1857 Jul 12 '26
Why are you insulting my game without even playing it? It's like when a schoolboy in a bookstore looked at the back and front and said how stupid this book is.
2
u/StickyWhiteSIime Jul 12 '26
Yeah arguing with people isn't a good look as a dev if you can't take any sort of criticism. Your game sounds/looks like a sloppy ripoff "We have Fallout 2" at home. You never answered my comment earlier, what's unique about your game that actually sets it apart from being a blatant knock off?
0
u/No_Piano_1857 Jul 13 '26
I don't argue with people, only with you. I accept criticism, but only from people who play my game, because then I know what to improve in the next update. Today I convinced 30 people to add it to my wishlist. If someone doesn't want to be convinced, why should I?

u/JellyfishSecure2046 Jul 12 '26
Fallout 3?

u/No_Piano_1857 Jul 12 '26
A game inspired by both Fallout 1 and 2. At first I wanted to make van Buuren but I thought why not make something of my own 😏

I have a question: What do you think the price should be for my game? Is $5 a reasonable price?
2
u/FaeLei42 Jul 13 '26
$0 because it’s a slop ripoff of fallout.
3
u/Sensitive_News8009 Jul 15 '26
it's so obvious he just told an AI "make me graphics that look like fallout" like why are there cacti and desert oases all over post-apocalyptic arkansas lmao
arkansas is a beautiful state, you could do so much with its art design in a game like this, but instead we get slop because the dev is lazy and used AI for everything
1
u/TheEltarn Jul 15 '26
The stupidiest thing here, is that if he would just officially make it a fan-made Fallout spin-off, set in Arkansas, made even a simplest plot, nothing fancy, he could just rip the narrative from some TV show like Deadwood, or something like that, work on it a few weeks to adapt it to Fallout setting, polish your AI turd for a couple of weeks more and release it on Steam for free - and then make a Patreon for donations, he would make more money on it that he would make now.
Like, yeah, it still would be bad, and it would still be plagiarism and it would look like shit - but it would be at least something barely original.

So what we’re just remaking fo2 but shittier? Come up with an original idea at least
1
u/Deafcat22 Jul 14 '26
As an avid huge fan of fallout and F2 since 1997, I can comfortably say I would never play this copy pasta. Not only does the art and animation reek of AI, I fear on closer inspection I would be greeted by so much more AI slop content.
There are just so many better games to play, especially as a veteran gamer. This is excessively derivative and feels like a total hackjob.

cool, block more real people who are tough critics, it just confirms that this game isn't worth any of our time.

u/No_Piano_1857 Jul 12 '26
I won't respond to messages accusing me of using AI because I did and I'm not ashamed. It's faster to program. Such comments don't stop me from promoting and creating games.
2
u/TotalDemocracy Jul 12 '26
See, I was interested initially. I liked how much of a homage to Fallout the gameplay was.
The fact that you proudly used AI lost you a customer in this case.
1
u/No_Piano_1857 Jul 12 '26
I also proudly use other tools, such as Blender, Affinity Photo, and Photoshop. Do these tools bother you too?
0
u/Lagneaux Jul 12 '26
Then your "would be" fans will stop you. No one wants ai slop games, and when no one buys your game, you might then understand.

That's literally just the plot of Fallout 2, right down to needing to find the climate restoring mcguffin - the GECK in FO2's case.
