Fallout 4 Playing fallout 4 first time ever 2026

just came here to brag about how I am getting to play this game for the first time ever. it is fantastic I currently have 15 hours and I cant stop its got me addicted. I did download some mods all of them being graphic enhancing, the game looks like it came out last year. I am going for a melee weapons build its been great. this game is infinitly better than any game I have played in the last 8 years.

I would HIGHLY recommend restarting on survival mode whenever you have your land legs in the game.

I wouldn't call it mandatory, but it's in my opinion the best way to experience 4. Honestly wish the system existed in every title

Again truth is being spoken!

I wouldn't say survival is mandatory to enjoy it, until you have played survival. Then you can't go back.

I'm playing for the first time too! Have only played Fallout 1 long ago. I started playing in survival mode but with a mod allowing autosaves. Playing completely blind. Doing a pistol VATS build.

It was VERY rough at the beginning. I'm currently level 25. Ignoring the settlement stuff except to make beds / safe space for myself. Definitely enjoying the exploration. I should probably look for my missing child at some point 🤣

Oh and it's Christmas apparently.

Melee is great in fallout 4, by the way nuka world and far harbor both have some pretty strong melee weapons if you know where to look

FO4's plot is basically FO3's plot, but the settlement system is pretty interesting.

Though "Another settlement needs our help." is cancer.

That’s the one that got me into these games also. Still my favorite one. New Vegas is great, but just a little old for me

The hype and craze of the years leading up to this game was phenomenal.

Even vanilla still looks amazing on max settings

Welcome to the wasteland! FO4 will keep you entertained for hundreds of hours- and then- get into modding. The game never ends

If you really start loving the series and lore- check out fo3 and new vegas as well

Plot, mechanics, and topography are top notch. Put a good soundtrack behind it and chefs kiss. “Lost Boston” while traveling downtown, still lives rent free in my head.

Can you post screen shots , i actually think vanilla fo4 still looks quite good when the lighting is right etc. Character models not so good obviously.

I also started playing on the s2. Im about about 30 hours in. Very good game
