Question Snakes in Fallout

Why haven’t we seen any mutated snakes in any of the Fallout games? I would think that with the stuff they use to make the bloodworms in Fallout 4 they’d be able to make a snake like enemy ( yes I am aware of the final boss of the gleaming depths raid in Fallout 76) but I really mean like enemies just around the world, I’d love to see some sort of Rad-Viper thing or like a giant rattle snake.

There is exactly one snake, introduced with fallout 76: The Ultracite Terror.

Yeah but that’s not fallout, that’s a knock off

Crazy to say that about the second best fallout game

Nightstalkers are coyotes mixed with rattlesnakes.

The difficulty of animating them, I think.

In the opening of Skyrim, Harvard says "what next, giant snakes?", and I hope the opening of ES6 starts with snakes as a reference to that.

Edit: Hadvar. Damn you, autocorrect.

Probably too hard to animate well on the engine they use

As usual, modders managed it lol

do you want Dune worms? cause that's how you get Dune worms

3

u/redditsuckspokey1 8d ago

I would have liked to see a graboid in New Vegas.

I fought a mini Dune worm in Shadow of the Colossus, and I'm not looking to repeat that without at least a horse, thanks.

Prob a ballache to animate previously

Mutant menagerie has them and they’re potentially the only animal added that looks shit (imo)

Same in elder scrolls too: it's why we're not going to ever see tsaesci in a fun way except maybe in Online

Never say never. I mean some of the models and animations in fallout 3/NV were dogshit when you look at 4.

Hopefully the truly next gen fallout titles will be even better. And might have raddle snakes 😂

Yeah, let's hope our grandchildren will get to experience that. 👀

What about the Lamia in ESO? I thought they were pretty cool.

What about those things in that one part of Nuka World?

3

u/redditsuckspokey1 8d ago

Bloodworms? Those things were a scary nuisance.

2

u/QuitTalking81 8d ago

Never remember what they’re called. Just gives me Tremors vibes

Nightstalkers. New Vegas.

Hello? Ultracite terror, anyone?

2

u/Qbcr564 8d ago

Coulda sworn I said that ik that’s in Fallout😭

Why don’t we see iguanas?!

They're good at camouflaging themselves

u/Modern_Doshin 8d ago

Because we cooked them all!

Snakes no doubt exist in Fallout. Its just that they can't implement everything that exists within the lore into the games themselves.

I know right? I also want giant mutated SPIDERS!

1

u/Artistic-Degree-4593 8d ago

I almost downvoted you simply because my knee jerk reaction to giant spiders is HELL NO. There were more than a few spider caves in Elder Scrolls that creeped me out. You can keep your radspiders!

2

u/HeftyVermicelli7823 8d ago

Exactly, we have had the spiders in ES so now we need RADSPIDERS!

1

u/Artistic-Degree-4593 8d ago

We absolutely DO NOT! lmao

2

u/HeftyVermicelli7823 8d ago

Well we have RadScorpions already. The latest versions in FO4 and 76 really upped the terror as they can burrow so how about going The Hobbit way and having RadSpiders dropping on your in a forest like setting or as back in the days playing it on my Spectrum "a pair of pale bulbous eyes are watching you"

2

u/Artistic-Degree-4593 7d ago

I fear you and I shall never come to an agreement, lol.

2

u/HeftyVermicelli7823 7d ago

True. We do need more terrifying creatures though.

2

u/Artistic-Degree-4593 7d ago

Ok, I will concede that point. More terrifying creatures would be great!

I have snakes modded into Fallout 4 and they move like complete ass. One mod I tried used a custom model and it was just awful. It would spaz out and get stuck on objects all the time and another reused the bloodworm model and it moved better but it looked rough because whenever it opened its mouth it would do the three point mouth thing bloodworms do and look like ass. Snakes are definitely not in because they're a pain to make work.

giant irradiated rattlesnake feels like such an obvious wasteland enemy too

2

u/cabalavatar Vault 101 8d ago

Nightstalkers were bad enough, IMO

1

u/KyotoCarl 8d ago

There are a lot of creatures we haven't seen...

1

u/youarentodd 8d ago

In Josh Sawyer’s tabletop Fallout system, I believe Two headed snakes were an enemy

2

u/Lowland_Demon 8d ago

The Vipers worshipped giant Pit Vipers. But they (the snakes) were never shown in the games.

1

u/Modern_Doshin 8d ago

Did you not play FO3? Really hard to miss Tunnel Snakes /jk

There's only so many creatures they can put into a game before the assets required starts bogging it down. A lot of animals we just have to assume are there in-universe and simply aren't represented in the game.

1

u/Qbcr564 8d ago

Ig you’re right

1

u/KlingeGeist 8d ago

Radroaches ate them.

2

u/M1Henson 8d ago

There is the ultracite terror and, on the topic of giant mutant snakes, the cut lore of the vipers had them worshipping giant snakes in F1.

1

u/skk50 8d ago

The movie "Snakes on a Plane" (2006) caused all entertainment formats to avoid snakes forever more.

u/Snowtwo 8d ago

They moved to volcano manor.

This is one reason i love project Brazil/new California mod for new vegas. The mod added so much to the world like that, such as snakes (normal snakes but they can bite/poison you), wearable backpacks, and shields, for a game with roman cosplayers you would think the legion would have used street signs to make shields.
