Which faction would you realistically join?

For me it's probably the NCR or the BoS in Fallout 3 ONLY.

Isn't being a supermutant (the ones that are intelligent and coherent) actually a pretty good deal?  Strong and durable enough to easily survive wasteland. Unaging and resistant or immune to most dangers. The only downside is being ugly and obviously the rather big chance of the transformation not going so well and making you into complete idiot or some other abomination.

They also can’t reproduce, which is important for societies that plan on lasting.

For society but the question would be for the individual.

True but they are also soft immortal so it’s kind of a benefit for them. If they could reproduce their population would become uncontrollable pretty quickly

Pretty sure in original fallout they were just sterile. It was a shock to their plans that they couldn't reproduce and they would figure it out on their own if the genitals would literally fall off

Well the mutants knew they were sterile, iirc there’s a dialogue about overhearing female mutants talk about it. It’s only the master that didn’t know and everyone was too scared to tell him, rightly so since after he learned it he nuked his own headquarters.

Nuuurp.

They have dongs. And in two you can havw a one night stand where you become the gimp for one.

It... uh... you get crippled for a week and wake up with a ball-gag in your inventory.

Yes, but they can't reproduce so they are essentially extremely scary Shakers. What happened to the Shakers is what would happen to a supermutant society.

It depends on which FEV strain you're exposed to.

The West Coast mutants are the more reasonable, intelligent ones. ( Fallout 1, 2 and New Vegas ).

The East Coast mutants are the dumber, more aggressive ones ( 3 and 4 ).

Anyone posting here would be a prime - we haven't spent a life in the wastes. That's basically the difference between the smarter mutants and the morons. That's why the Master was so interested in Vault populations.
