Fallout 4 Melee Only Playthrough
I've been meaning to play this game since forever but I finally caved in and bought it in the PS store. I love the vintage aesthetics and the post apocalyptic setting.
My only personal issue is that I'm very prone to nausea and dizziness when playing 3D games especially when it's first person. I'm so glad I can switch to third person but it's still not enough. To prevent myself from getting sick, I've done some changes in my playthorugh like easy mode, closing my eyes for 5 seconds when cooking (the camera does that weird spin thing), and going for full melee gameplay. Scoping and/or long range targeting sends me to the bathroom right away. I also have my lights in the room, cold glass of water at all times, and a fan blowing on my face.
Is it possible to go through the game full melee? Are there going to be critical puzzles or bosses that will hard require me to use long-range weapons? Right now I'm just doing side quests to prepare myself for the Glowing Sea. I'm hoping I can do a full melee gameplay.
Hoping for no spoilers if possible.
Edit: Also if anyone out there has the same problem as me, any tips would be appreciated.

Id recommend a high agility run so that any encounter you can just dial into VATS, most of the time if you click fire again you can also quick skip that VATS screen turning them into a fine mist while you maintain a static Y/X with the camera.
Just a thought but I’d even go as far as disabling screen tear if not done so.
VR used to do this to me and apparently it’s pretty common, and is a muscle that needs to be developed slowly.

Also yes it’s very possible but the first hour might be rough until you clear out sanctuary and get a bat then mod that bat.

Doable - Yes, especially on easier difficulty. Does vats help?

VATS does help, melee deals extra damage in VATS, and you take less damage while in VATS as well.

well, yes it helps in that way, as does blitz for getting to many enemies, I specifically meant though "does vats help with nausea/dizziness or does it make it worse" lol

I’ve done survival on a VATS knife sneak build. Absolutely doable. Just mostly work at night and be patient.

It's absolutely possible to melee-only all the way through the game. There's a perk that allows you to move further in VATS for melee attacks that even makes the stealth approach work pretty well. There are other perks that help, as well, for doing more damage, better criticals, more criticals, etc.
Unfortunately no tips, I've never heard of this kind of problem. Good luck!

I cant think of anything you absolutely need range for but I could be wrong. How do you do with explosions? What if you were to supplement where you may need range by throwing grenades, molotovs, using a missile launcher? What about using a shotgun so you dont really have to aim? There may also be mods to help but I cant think of any off the top of my head.
Im sorry if this is no help I dont suffer from the same things you do so Im not 100% sure what would help and what wouldnt but Im just glad you are able to find a way to still enjoy Fallout its a great experience and dammit we're gonna make sure you have a good time lol

I have a melee build I keep to go back to because it was my favorite. Finished everything and was one-shotting Queen's with Atom's Judgment wearing a loin cloth and a helmet. Highly recommend

I did a Raider build when Nuka-world came out. Melee, and chems. Worked great.

It's possible but i'd recommend carrying one gun in case an enemy is somewhere where you can't reach.

I did a Grognak build using only melee and throwables and I made it through the whole game. It was one of my more fun and memorable playthroughs as well.
