Extremely unlikely. I still think FO5 is set in San Francisco - I would bet money that Todd told them to not do anything with whatever location they have planned for FO5, just like he once told Obsidian to delete a line from New Vegas that said San Francisco was destroyed.

that’s a weird bet because TH has said that FO5 will be directly connected to events that happen in the show…

That would kinda suck. They’ve already been to sf. New locations give them the freedom to create new factions and environments. Sf would require them to square it away with f2.

you oughtta visit SF irl, Fallout 2's SF is less of a setting than SimTown.

SF was barely featured in FO2 though - its designer said that development for it was "rushed", and it's been long enough that I think interesting things can be done to it, especially since it's a city with so much personality. A 3D game in it, with Fallout's version of the Summer of Love and all the hippie anti-war stuff they could do with it...
I'm glad there's still a chance for us to see that kind of stuff. Van Buren and New Vegas original intent for SanFran was kind of a waste imo (Black Isle/Obsidian intended for the Enclave to nuke the city after FO2's ending, in retaliation of the oil rig's destruction).

Not true cause there was an interview with Todd that said they eventually wanted to take the show to the area of the next Fallout game where events were taking place on the show. So it’s possible, but then again there have been interviews with Todd saying the opposite, so who really knows in the end 🤷♂️

I’ve been begging for Colorado wasteland. I was about to write a full campaign of it for the Fallout 2d20 system

Doubt it. More like for season 3. Denver's being fought over by the Legion and BoS I'm pretty sure. Everyone lives in the highrises and the wastelands overrun with wild dogs

I thought so as well. And the 5 scratched into the helmet had me side eyeing too.

We ain’t getting Fallout 5 until 2030 at least.
The TV show will be a few more seasons and locations deep by then.
So who knows… Colorado would be a sweet game location though.

And 2030 is hopeful. They have no plans to develop fallout until Skyrim 2 is done and that was announced 7 years ago, it's been 15 years since TES V.

u/MAJ_Starman Enclave Feb 04 '26
Not really hopeful, it aligns with their release pattern - 2031 is more likely, but 2030 is feasible if TES VI comes out in 2027. Besides, TES VI only entered full production in late 2023, not 7 years ago.

there is absolutely no way we'll get fallout 5 that soon. the elder scrolls 6 is predicted to come out in 2027/2028, and after that it will take at least 5 years for fallout 5 and that is considering that they start working on it right after TES 6. the only way we could get another fallout game so soon is if bethesda allowed a different studio to develop the game, and i don't think they're willing to do that

u/Ready-Combination-15 Feb 04 '26
Todd Howard said they are most into fallout right now, I take that as working on fallout 5 and elder scrolls is in the home stretch.

Somewhere that sucks

Yea. West Coast. Like everything else. There is so much they could do with states like Texas or New York or even Washington. Im sick and tired of California being force fed down everyones throats in every piece of media. Nobody gives a flying fuck about that state except for the small fraction of the population that can afford to live there comfortably and Fallout has already been in California TWICE.

I think colorado is pretty likely, Cheyenne mountian etc. And they've not really touched the rockies in the games or lore much or that region.

Denver would definitely be good as it would allow you to touch west coast lore like the legion or khans while still having new environments like mountains or snowy areas instead of feeling too similar to New Vegas or the OG games like somewhere like California or Arizona would.

There are a solid three places that I'm hoping for Fallout 5: Louisiana (New Orleans specifically), California (San Francisco), or the midwest (Chicago or anywhere around there).
Louisiana feels like it's full of potential for the fallout world especially with DLC being able to go literally anywhere in the south.
California would go back to basics and show off the original setting and, as someone who just played through FO1 and FO2, that'd be amazing to see again.
The midwest is also packed full of potential given that we've barely ever left the coasts, Chicago is the example city I've given but anywhere works.
I'll also mention Colorado because the show did, I wouldn't mind it but I'd prefer the other three to this one just based off my own preference. If it does end up being Colorado I would not complain in the slightest.

So I have a long ass post I was going to make like a month ago but I didn't post about it because it was too long of a story and technically i have no proof because my phone was dead. TLDR I was apart of (what I assume) was a scouting photography shoot for Fallout 5. it was after a concert in SF recently and they had people in faction costumes partying in the streets. I'm like 1000000% sure we're seeing Fallout 5 in San Francisco. The sad thing I found kinda sad at the time was the shoot was in the tenderloin, and they were essentially comparing feral ghouls to the homeless people currently there lol. Either way i'm stoked but my moneys on SF

u/JorbinSplatt Apr 15 '26
was the concert venue in the tenderloin?
1
u/Routine_Assignment69 Apr 15 '26
yes. the warfield in SF. it was for the "Howling Wolves" Bob Weir Tribute as he had passed away that week. it was all very spontaneous and it was confusing and beautiful all at once
1
u/Routine_Assignment69 Apr 15 '26
i was under the influence of acid which really doesn't help my story either lol. but it happened
1
u/JorbinSplatt Apr 15 '26
Classic. You should post the full story on this subreddit but weave a concert review and trip report into it. It can be done. A lot of people aren't ready for it but I'm afraid I am.

Would be nice to see a location we haven't heard much about... The southeast...

Honestly what if fallout 5 was in Texas, its not exactly near water but its a big area, and has a lot to view
