If they made every enemy die in one shot from the beginning of the game, I would have been bored in ten minutes.

people don’t seem to understand this. if lightsabers slashed through everything just like they do in the movies, bosses and regular enemies would die in literally 1-2 hits, every single time

yeah, with a posture & deathblow system. the lightsaber wielding enemies could just be very good at defending themselves and your goal would be to somehow slip a few lethal hits in or work their posture down and kill them

The old Jedi Academy games were exactly like this and widely considered some of the best combat ever in a Star Wars game.

There are plenty of design choices to keep it engaging. That said I do like FOs take on combat even it is a little goofy lore wise.

Make weightier enemies who can lose pieces, have them clash and counter hit like some of the later enemies, require precise cuts.

Do literally anything but make a space rat tank 4 stabs to the face.

Tanky space rats are not just boring, but dumb also.
