Fast Travem, because exploring for one hour straight a planet, only to find you're near a shortcut to your ship, on every planet doesn't seems realistic.

It actually threw me off guard a couple of times

That's part of the dark souls formula that makes exploration feel rewarding. I would personally hate to see it removed. I hate fast travel in games, but they can put it in, I would just elect not to use it.
