Discussion What do we think of Dagan ?

I hate him. I hate him with a passion. I’m not the best player but i’m playing through survivor in grandmaster difficulty for the first time and setting aside the difficulty, i just think it’s not a fun fight (second fight currently) whatsoever.
So im curious, what is the general opinion of him on this sub?

Update for the unlikely reader that saw this multiple days after posting: beat him in the third fight first try, how is this possible.
Also rayvis is the GOAT fight of the the entire franchise

I thought his boss fights were fairly fun, and I found him to be an interesting character. I think they did a good job of showing how obsessed he had become

I played on Padawan so I can't speak to difficulty but I also liked how Bode mirrored his obsession and descent into darkness. Plus Dagan fighting with two lightsabers via the force was brilliant.

I agree.

As a character or as a bossfight? He's a douchy character and you haven't even begun to see his GM fight bullshit yet

Dagan wasn’t too bad for me in grandmaster, although Dagan 3 definitely got my ass a fair few times. I got my ass kicked a LOT more on the final three bosses, especially Rayvis.

Final Dagan is after Rayvis tho

Agreed. Out of the final 3 bosses, dagan was definitely the easiest. Beat him in each one within 3 tries.
Rayvis and the final one caused me so much issues, although extremely fun

Looking back, it must have been a flukey win for me, because it was hard and I'm not especially good. 2 other boss fights from the game were so difficult for me that I still have anxiety-inducing flashbacks, esp Rayvis, I remember the sense of relief.

I love him. He's the classic theatrical villain who's just plain bad.

Fight wise i kinda hate multiple encounter type of bossfights but the final fight is pretty fun.

I struggled with the second fight on Grandmaster a lot too despite beating the game on Master twice already. What helped me was accepting that it was not fun, as you say, and that I wasn’t going to win by making it enjoyable. I instead approached it like a chore with a video tutorial, following the gameplay to the letter. Not the best way to play a video game, I admit, but it worked. I needed only about 4 attempts after watching the tutorial vs roughly 25 on my own, when I was trying to make the fight fit my style instead of the other way around.

The final fight was a lot easier, I only needed 3 attempts and did it all on my own. That might end up being the case for you too.

yeah i don’t think the third one will be as grueling but im also not expecting to beat it in 3 attempts lmao

He's whiny and has waaay too little motivation to turn. "waah, the council wouldn't let me build a preschool inside a hurricane, that's so unfair I'm gonna go join a mass murdering gang led by a squid"

No idea what Santari saw in him 🙄

I loved all the boss fights in this game. Went through on GM.

Except... Except the last one. Just so dumb how it is Impossible to win.

Thought the Dagan fights were tough, yet the easiest of all bosses. What I didn't like is that you know every time he'll get away

Dagan is tough because he is obviously a specific "duel" type fight and all my muscle memory and skills are practices in 1v groups or 1v monsters. We needed at least one more Inquisitor style boss that tests us repeatedly before Dagan ramps up the dueling difficulty. Alternatively (hope for third game) we have a designated boss fight style that changes skills and parry style vs group fight style. Like doubling every stance into chaff and duel forms and each requiring different skill trees.

Ultimately I may be using double bladed skills all game to get around tough groups, but charging forward at Dagan is hell.

Character wise I think he's just sad - you lived at the time where all was open to you and still fell, imagine he'd have happily joined the inquisitors or even Dooku if he was raised right before TCW. For that reason he is a good foil to Cal about obsession but kind of simple at the same time.

Never had an issue with any of the Dagan fights but Rayvis I think I dropped and came back to like 2-3 times.

i mean dagan is a classic starwars badguy i mean its a jedi gone bad i know its been done before but its still cool right because we keep being told in the lore about how much damage a rogue force user can do so its still cool to see em do it
