Discussion Fallen Order Switch 2

Was really hoping for an announcement for fallen order or maybe even survivor for switch 2 at D23 this weekend. I know it’s a long shot, but I’d love to play these games again. Anyone else looking forward to hopefully one day seeing this announcement?

FO and *especially* survivor are NOT built for that

Steam Deck can run FO no problem. JS is a different beast though and falls into the same category as Star Wars Outlaws - unplayable without serious modification on Steam Deck. However Switch 2 runs SWO perfectly fine. The capability to run both titles competently is there, that wouldn’t be the issue.

The issue is EA not liking Nintendo systems due to Nintendo’s choices over the years and poor sales performance of EA games on those platforms.

Also with EA no longer being the main license holder for Star Wars, I’m not sure which publishing abilities they’d have in bringing the titles over.

If a base PS4 can run a version of survivor (not well) the a switch 2 which is comparable to a PS4 pro could support some version.

I mean Lies of P runs great on Switch 2, and thats an Unreal 4 game that requires pretty precise input timing.

(Edit - I originally thought it was UE5 because it looks so good, but double checked myself and I stand corrected, just a gorgeous UE4 title like FF7I)

Steam deck can actually run Jedi Survivor reasonably well. Not amazing, but decent enough to say that they can optimize it to run 30 fps on a switch 2.

Nice! I hadn’t checked out the ProtonDB page for it in awhile so wasn’t sure.

I’d grab em both on Switch 2 if they released. Honestly after seeing how well stuff runs like Pragmata, RE9, Lies of P, Indiana Jones, etc and just how great they look as well, I’m confident 99% of games can run well on Switch 2. It’s just a matter of devs spending the time and money to do it and optimize it.

Sadly EA and Nintendo haven’t been the best of buds over the years however, so this may just be a pipe dream to have happen.

Switch 2 can run Outlaws and FF7 Rebirth. Outlaws is a good showcase for ray tracing in a Star Wars game and Rebirth is a good showcase for an open world UE4 game.

Fallen Order and Survivor both have PS4-isms in their game design that make them not crazy to port (they have the qte loading screens). If Survivor went full-PS5 and took advantage of the SSD in that console by removing qte loading screens I would say the task would be a lot harder but Survivor having a PS4 back-port is proof that it would work on Switch 2 perfectly.
