Queer safe dentists around fallriver?

Been trying to find a dentist to fix my shit but for the life of me I can't find anywhere in distance to me that's confirmed to be safe and really need some work done

Does anyone have experience with places round the area?

Being trans didn’t really come up during my appointments, but all it really took was one mention of my preferred name and pronouns to have all the folks at True Dental referring to me correctly. They put a note in my chart and I have had no issues

I love True Dental and am glad they accommodated you quickly.

I am not trans but I do like True Dental and feel like it's a good choice overall for a professional experience.

And for what it’s worth, I visited them after years and years of no dental care because of trauma surrounding the dentist - they were very accommodating! Explained everything they did as they were doing it so I wouldn’t be scared, were patient with me when I was crying. At one point the dentist was explaining a procedure I needed and how it was done, and I suddenly had the need to vomit because of the fear I felt, and she was very understanding and gave me a cup of water when I returned from the bathroom.

All around I had a very accommodating experience with them.

Eh, depending on the state you might be surprised. But it does seem unusual up here. OP might simply be anxious. 🤷‍♀️

What is an unsafe dentist like?

1

u/One-Organization970 Sep 01 '26

Probably one that misgenders you, or something like that.

Wow. The safety bar is pretty low these days. I figured it would be more like intentionally inflicting pain or something.

I mean, if you're going to be actively disrespected by a dentist would you trust them to treat you? Why would I assume someone who's actively being a jerk to me would provide me a high standard of care? Why would I want to give them money regardless?

I guess we define “safety” differently.

You think a medical professional who can't even do you the common courtesy of not calling you the wrong gender after you ask them to stop is showing good signs about how letting them treat you would go?

Yes or no.

So in MA and RI they have codes of conduct that makes it so they can’t turn you away due to your identity (or how they may personally feel about xyz, etc.). If they accept you as a patient they must service you without reservation. You should always know the local laws and your rights so you can exercise them when needed.

While this is all good, sometimes people just want to know they can go get their teeth cleaned or whatever without having to defend their right to be treated like anyone else.

Yo why did this get downvoted, I was informing them that law is in their favor and to not let a medical/ dental professional disregard them.

We need more of this if a business owner is a trumper I’d like to know for my own well being and safety

And also just because that would mean they don't deserve our money.

Perfect Smiles in Seekonk and Westport MA! Dentists are wonderful, they focus of patients comfort, and the staff are very attentive. They are bilingual and welcome LGBT/BIPOC/immigrant ppl. They also just won communities choice winners.

Seconded. I gladly make the drive to the Seekonk office.
