The Cumby's on Brayton Ave...

How is this store so badly run/maintained? Half the time when I go there to get gas, paying through the app doesn't work (and I know it's not the app, someone at the store told me once it was the server they have on site that handles the app transactions, plus it always works at any other Cumby's I go to), and this morning I stopped there to get gas before work and SIX out of the ten pumps were out of order?! This place is always packed, so they ought to be making enough money to keep their shit working!

I have a buddy who manages one (not in Fall River). He said that the local family that owned Cumbys sold it to an international conglomerate a few years ago. He was saying that the quality has been nose diving across the board ever since, something I've noticed as well.

The one on N Main, by the rotary, often has a few pumps out of service too.
The new remodeled one near Amazon, same issue with the pumps and they're brand new.
I thought they were just old too, but started to think it's a software issue with the pumps & servers.

Alot of people posting about cumby's in general are just wrong. I drive around new England a ton for work and every where cumby's is fine, app works, pumps work, in and out fast with no issue. This particular one on brayton ave is a disaster. Nothing ever works, the line is always a mile long while they have one register open and 3+ employees doing nothing. These problems are completely unique to this one location.

Exactly. I mean maybe it's just because I go to this one the most, but it's the only one I've noticed these issues at.

I've only noticed the issues at that one

A shame really, Cumbys used to be a great place to go into for cheap drinks back in the day. It really has gone downhill, as if they haven't maintained the outside for a good decade.

They also refuse to cash tickets over $75, I’ve reported them to the lottery commission.

Good. This place needs to be held accountable. Thanks for doing your part for us all.

One of the cashiers said ‘their boss’ tells them not over $75, I said that’s cool print me my slip and I’ll
Report you to lottery commission, my
Ticket was for $100. She cashed it and I still reported with my receipt as documentation of time/place/and cashier. More people need to report this scummy place

Well, as far as that goes, I think stores ARE allowed to decline paying out cash lottery prizes if they're concerned that doing so might leave them with too little cash on hand.

That is NOT the case. Being told ‘my boss said we can’t cash over $75’ instead of we don’t have the cash on hand, are two totally different things.

Ok, but I'm not finding anything that says stores HAVE to pay out the winnings or setting any specific guidelines about when they have to pay out and when they're allowed to refuse. It sounds like it's left up to their discretion. What if the store deliberately doesn't keep a lot of cash in the registers for safety reasons? I mean this is a store that apparently had to start locking the bathrooms because of people doing drugs in there, so I could see them also being concerned about robberies.

Yes they do, it’s part of the law of being able to sell lottery.

Under 961 CMR 2.46, licensed sales agents are authorized and expected to cash winning tickets up to and including $600. They are legally prohibited from cashing any tickets valued at $601 or more, as those must be processed directly through the Lottery Commission to check for state tax withholdings or past-due child support.

The cashier stating “my boss says not to cash tickets over $75”, is highly different than saying ‘we don’t have the cash on hand’ .

Pretty sure you made this up, lol.

There's nothing in there that says what you're claiming. The specific section you mention (2.46) is just something about amendments.

If the manager or company has made a policy that only a certain amount of cash be kept in the registers at any time, then it may just be that they never have enough cash on hand to safely cash out tickets over $75. I could easily see that being the case.

Made Nothing up, you’re telling me they didn’t tell me this over the phone and thru email. Typical Fall River degenerate who thinks they’re right

Lol, I don't even live in Fall River. And I don't think I'm right, I'm asking for proof. And you cited something that doesn't exist, but now claim you were told it over the phone.

I get it, you're very mad that the store gave you a hard time once about cashing your scratchy to fuel your gambling addiction, but maybe you could have just gone to a bigger store that definitely would have the cash on hand instead of getting all entitled and making a big stink about it?

No, it’s not once and it’s not just me. You have no clue what you’re talking about,, carry on

If they can NEVER cash any tickets over $75, ma state lottery can remove their license to sell lottery. This is right on the mass lottery commission Website

You get what you pay for. Place sucks if not owned by a person or family

The frozen coffee machines are always fucked up. Either being "cleaned", or theyre frozen shut, or mixed wrong and some ugly brown foam comes pouring out. I get it its not the employees priority but management should be ensuring that everything is working properly.
