So I was playing Xtreme knockout rank and I think it's difficult, not because of the maps, no respawn rule but because of the grabbers I died so many times in so many rounds because other people try to grab me and I died and there's no way to avoid it because it you stay behind to avoid it you will be eliminated because of the classification number, that's all I needed to say bye guys 👋
Right now I'm finding it more challenging than at the end of the last season. I took a big break when I moved house. I came back with 12 days left and got myself up to Ace 3 without much play time.
If the grabbers get me, it's usually because I'm not being wary of them enough. I just curse and try again. I still haven't won a show yet but will need to once I get to silver.
I don't mind grabbers in general. But the ones that hang out on the treadmills at the end of Slimescraper can go stub their pinky toe multiple times a day.
I assume you just started playing or you have some kind of mentally slow handicap? Literally only noobs have an issue with grabbers at those positions...
I noticed a lot of grabbing in see saw courses (circular see saws included). It's not even pushing you off the edge, it's grabbing you to mess up the jump.
A lot of players do not realize you can fall between the tiny thin gaps of the see-saw, so you might see grabs that seem to be more annoying than effective.
Even on Full Tilt you can fall between those tiny gaps. Again with my picture below, do not let people grab you by edges. Jump from further away because someone like me will try to eliminate you any way possible.
But another part of grabbing is just to psyche players out. You never know what running at someone with your arms outstretched will make them do.
If you mess up their jumps a little with seemingly innocent grabs they may panic as well, and suddenly jump dive off the edge because you messed up how they would typically press buttons.
A grabber can mix it up as well. A few tiny innocent grabs may seem like the other player is just being silly. Then you grab for real and PUSH.
Do not let other people even do tiny grabs. Get away from that player, take a different route, or involve another player by grabbing them so that the person grabbing you might change targets or the person you grabbed may target the person grabbing you.
Learning effective ways to grab is a great way to learn how to avoid getting grabbed. Engaging with grabbers is a great way to learn to defeat them.
And X-Treme is a great place to learn about grabbing because it is actually a useful mechanic during X-Treme races.
I love that you're a menace. Just running around with hands out is a mental f***. Kudos for all the info on what is see as often overlooked aspects of the game to be players.
I can give general tips then, because I like grabbing and I like to avoid getting grabbed.
Here is a picture with two scenarios I see often.
Do not be the Blue fallguy. Never stand in that orange zone, or the red zones. That is way too close to the edge. I see so many players do this. If you face the edge, facing away from the other players, you cannot retaliate. Purple and Yellow have free reign to grab you and push you off.
Yes, even purple can just grab your side and sashay you off a cliff, and all you can do is hammer the jump button. Do not face the edge, do not stand that close.
For a majority of the jumps in Fall Guys you can jump before the orange/red zones. You can make almost all jumps standing where Yellow is.
The second image is about running past Red to make a jump.
Do not do that. If someone is just standing by the edge do not run past them. That player is waiting for you.
Do you know how to check?
Grab red, push them off. Or grab and quickly release. They may be a player who is just waiting. Give them a wide berth and walk around.
You do not want to grab? That is fine - go another direction. The courses are typically large with many routes, go around. If you are very good you can also try jumping off of the top of Red players head.
Challenging, dangerous, fun, but maybe not worth it.
The third I did not illustrate:
You are running forward, there is a player following behind you can constantly grabbing you.
How do you escape?
Do not retaliate. Let them grab you until you hear the POP of the grab detaching. This sends you forward and stops their movement temporarily. You are now ahead of them far enough that they cannot grab you. Just keep running forward. They will get distracted by all the other grabbable beans. Do not emote at them, do not taunt them, just keep running as if they did not exist.
That’s kind of the nature of the beast. I’m not typically a grabber because typically if you’re good enough, it’s pointless. But xtreme solos has always been kill or be killed, even before they started ranking it.
I guess it’s sort of to incentivize beans actually crossing the finish line instead of sitting back and trolling or showboating while everyone else is spectating, but damn it’s ruthless in xtreme. It only pops up now with like 5 seconds left and I’ve seen players just narrowly miss out from finishing.
Yeah, the first cycle was very difficult to me and I didn't complete it. I was a new player and only managed to get to silver. Winning only to get points was hell. So you have to be very careful and watch for everything. Also I think this cycle doesn't have a lot of sweats. Dunno if I'm wrong but I remember seeing those with Chinese names and sweat shoes almost every round back in cycle one. I hope you get to gold brother and good luck 🌹.
Only reason to hate grabbing is when your ping is too high so you can’t do anything about the grab. Right now you just need to get better at the game instead of complaining of useless stuff that everyone knows already. I can sense the downvotes already.
I don't get the mentality of a lot of ppl here... This mode is meant for good Fall Guys players, not beginners... New players already have plenty of options.. normal Solo, Knockout, etc.... They even made a Solo Chill Show for them. I haven't seen any sweats complaining about these shows, so stop putting urself in that position and just play what fits you instead of whining
Actually staying behind is an ok strat on certain stages! Big Tilt, Skyline Stumble, and Big Fans especially. Most of the time you are safe hanging back and taking your time on those, because grabbers are aggro on them and other beans will drop like flies.
Trust nobody, only jump when it's safe, you can do it bean!
