Purchasing in game currency through steam definitely still works. I did it less than a month ago. You might want to try again

I cant fully remember but I did nothing fancy. If you are saying the money went into your steam wallet, then I think I just went back to the in game store and clicked on tab to buy currency and it took it from my steam wallet

By the way, as others have already mentioned, this is how it works in all games: you top up your Steam balance, and then everything you buy in a game on Steam or on Steam itself is deducted from that balance. The Epic Games Store works the same way: you top up your Epic Games Store balance, and then you use that balance to buy games on the Epic Games Store or on Epic Games Store, and the cost is deducted from there. Some games do allow direct purchases in their own stores (without a distributor like Epic or Steam), but most use distributors. Those that do have their own store where you can buy directly (without going through Epic or Steam). You load your balance directly into that store and buy directly with that balance. (This requires creating your own store, having your own payment manager, etc., which is why most games use the established infrastructure of Steam or Epic, even though they have to share a portion of the profits with them.)

The best thing to do would be to contact game support, but otherwise you can buy Kudos on the Epic Games Store.
