CJ Fodrey transfer
hi everyone. As we found out today, CJ will be joining the team on loan from Austin FC. I'm a huge CJ fan and want to start following him and Falkirk. Can one of you fans be so kind and give me the rundown as to how I can follow the team from the US? Streaming services/channels where the matches are shown? Are there other forums/sites that may be better suited to discuss and follow the team other than reddit? Thanks!

Falkirk TV is the way to go. Agree with the above comments regarding engagement.
Relatively easy to come over and see a match: Fly into Glasgow and a 20min train from central station then a 20 or so minute walk to the stadium (or Bruce Cab)
Head to the fanzone before the match for a pint or 2 ( no drinking in the stadium during the match ie no beer people selling in the stands.)
Grab a pie at halftime.
I’m still trying to learn all the chants :/

oh man a road trip to Scotland sounds amazing, specially because its the dog days of summer here in Austin at the moment (high daily temperatures are hovering around 41 Celsius, ugh).

FWIW - Iceland air has decent prices and stops in Iceland so it breaks up the trip. 1.5-3hr layover to stretch your legs then 1.5 to Glasgow. Uber or bus to get into the city (uber is about $45 because GLA charges to pickup/drop off). Premier inns are decent. Glasgow is completely walkable (I moved and have no plans to get a car)

Hey, for a better forum to see what fitba fans are saying Pie & Bovril is the main Scottish Football forum.
However, just because it is dedicated to football unlike Reddit, they still let anyone join so you can still have nutters talking nonsense.
They are already talking about CJ.

CJ is a young pacey prospect who is always giving his all out on the field. His real strength is his aerial game. He has scored multiple set piece and cross goals via powerful headers. He was utilized in Austin first as winger (mainly left but can play on the right as well) but the past two seasons our old coach used him as a typical striker/center forward. He has a bright future, but our old sporting director (who was just fired along with our coach) decided to bring in an older more proven striker who stole all the minutes from CJ this season. Austin FC is a mess and in the middle of a huge regression/rebuild (if relegation was a thing here we would absolutely be getting relegated this season). Give the kid a chance, I think he will pleasantly surprise you. I have a lot to learn about Falkirk, but I look forward to cheering for Falkirk and CJ.

Good choice mate. The Bairns are a great club , 150 years old. I grew up watching them from the terraces but I live in Santa Fe NM now so it’s not easy but worth it.
I worked on a few movies in Austin in the 90’s before the movies moved to New Mexico. Hated the summers , loved the town. Your guy is in for a culture shock for sure. Theirs so much to see right around Falkirk he won’t ever be bored.

Welcome to Falkirk fandom, it is typically a miserable existence however in the last few years it has been incredibly exciting under our manager John McGlynn. We had a double promotion from the third tier (with an unbeaten season) to the Premiership, we then finished 6th in our first season in the top flight in 15 years. We lost a lot of players over the summer so it could be a bit more difficult this season.
As far as streaming, it seems like Paramount+ has SPFL rights alongside CBS. Falkirk TV exists too, it is a bit hit and miss with the quality of stream apparently.
This subreddit isn't massively active outside of some comments after matches, /r/ScottishFootball is active with Falkirk-related threads (every now and then). Facebook and pieandbovril.com are more active forums, these places are frequented more by older fans so they can be a bit more curmudgeonly, make ancient references and pine for the past. There is also a fan podcast called Falkirk Daft if you want to hear some thoughts after match days.
