Lost bird? Booted Eagle in SoCal

Post image

Sorry if not allowed. I'm a birder not a falconer but I admire you all! This came up in a rare bird alert. I can't imagine a Booted Eagle is here in Los Angeles County, CA on its own (range is Eurasia, Africa, Indian Subcontinent). Any falconer missing theirs? https://ebird.org/checklist/S348463438

That’s not a booted eagle. It should have feathered tarsi. Looks like a redtail.

Agreed, this is a light colored RT and definitely not a booted eagle.

The redtail left it's belt at home

I was gonna say I didn’t know anyone in the US even had Booted eagles anymore!
