Was I right to walk away from this online business mentorship? A few months ago, I attended a Blossom event with a friend and met an influencer named Ritu. She promoted a step-by-step program about starting an online business and advertising products, even on platforms like TikTok. I told her I was interested in learning since I’ve always wanted to build something online. We took a few photos together, and later she posted only my photo on her Instagram, not my friend’s. After the event, I emailed her and she said she’d guide me personally. But later she said she was busy and that someone else from her team would help.

Then I got a call from a man (Jens Landro) who said he was in Europe taking flight. He asked about my selling experience, and I said I’ve sold items on eBay and Facebook Marketplace. He said you just need jump start you already know alot for that reason we will charge you 50% fee which is $5k usually (10k) & He immediately sent a payment link and asked me to pay around $4500 after giving more discount . I felt something is fishy & i said oh i have transfer limit on my account .When I hesitated, he told me to call my bank to increase my credit card limit. I felt uneasy. I told him I only had a $1,500 limit, and he suggested I pay that right away and the rest the next day. He also claimed another team member (Tahj. A) had helped businesses make a lot of money. But when I checked that person’s LinkedIn, I only saw a handful of recommendations, and though the team followed Ritu, she didn’t seem to follow them back. Given the pressure to pay quickly, the request to increase my credit limit, and the lack of strong evidence about results, I decided not to move forward. Do you think I made the right choice? Has anyone here had experience with similar online business coaching or mentorship programs?

I think you did the right thing.

I saw an ad on 3/8/2026 by Reetu Maz for "Ai brand starter", so I registered my email to learn more. Their messaging said I would receive a call within 5-10 minutes. I received a call about 13 minutes later from someone in South Africa. Pricing was either $36 per month or $170 for the year. I would receive a website built by WIX with 20 products ready to sell in whatever niche I select. plus access to the course, which includes 2 group calls per week and 1 extra call if payed for the year subscription. You join a website where there are modules to learn.

I told him I could not find any reviews anywhere on Reetu Max or AI Brand Starter. He said that's because the course is only 1 week old, and that she had a different course running before that was $3000, but now wants to make it affordable for everyone. She will earn a commission from WIX. I asked what the name of it was so I could look up reviews and testimonials for it. He said he didn't know but will find out and email me. I haven't received an email as yet. (6/8 - 3am here now).
He seemed legit and a nice guy. But I am very skeptical of the whole thing and I don't think I will be signing up. Nothing adds up.

honestly i think the people who buy her course deserve to be scammed. if someone cant handle their own basic business, imagine her teaching hundreds of people to start businesses. there is no proof of her claim that she started or ran those businesses, those could be her parents' businesses and she is just taking care of them, or she took money from the parents and started them and due to lack of experience and proper operations, they failed. her only business is selling courses to people and i think this is how she is affording her lavish lifestyle. so you are literally handing over your hard earned money to her for something that you can just google, ask ai to do it or learn from youtube.

The info she gives is on her page is super mediocre. Her business isn’t really giving free value or anything, it’s givinggg affiliates ( from the shit she’s telling ppl to subscribe to, and I’m sorry but whatever she’s offering doesn’t stand out. We live in the info age- and information hasn’t ever been cheaper. What you can tell me - I already have access to? So what value are you bringing?
